I got an oil change at Toyota dealership last Friday and today exactly 7 days later and maybe 500-600 miles driven I noticed my truck was smoking. I opened hood and dip stick was never closed and I see oil all over the place. . I normally park on street so I looked under truck and oil spots everywhere and oil all inside engine compartment and the components I’m going to Toyota dealer but what should o be asking for? They already owe me a new engine since it’s part of the recall. For sure I think I need a new oil change and the engine area but how do I knowing there is more damage ?

Tech probably didn't seat the dip stick all the way down. Don't be a Karen, have them document the issue, check oil level, top off if necessary and detail the engine bay and wash the undercarriage. Next time do it yourself if issues like this are absolutely unacceptable

I had an oil change go bad at the dealer awhile back as well. They cleaned it all up. They didn’t tighten the filter down all the way. Check the oil level before you do anything else, top it off if needed. Probably is just fine.

That was my last free one, I’ve been doing it myself since then.

Always check the oil filler cap, dip stick, drain plug, and oil filter when a shop does an oil change for you. Most of the wrench monkeys in these shops aren't the most conscientious workers, in my experience.

    And oil level.

Master Techs aren't changing your oil, it's the teenager making $15 an hour and he is as likely to overfill as underfill. Check everything.

Check your oil level. And overfilled engine will blow the oil dipstick out from the overfilled oil pressure!

I do also. I had a Toyota car in 2010 they did the first free oil change. Oil was ll over my steering wheel, on the hood, running down the bumper. Spilled down the side of the block.

I complained they took it back, washed it with a bucket full of dirt/ grime and put scratches in my paint. Half way wiped off the steering wheel. And sprayed some brake cleaner on side of the motor. Then as the porter pulled the car around to me as I was getting an apology from service manager, the guy drove it to far into the parking spot and broke the lower air damn on the parking block by driving into it. I took my keys and told the service manager I'll never let them touch my car again.

These days you really need to try and double check all of their work. Dipsticks, fluid levels, air pressure, lug nut torque, hell even make sure they clipped the air filter housing back together. These dealerships are often just a mess to deal with.

If you want it done right, do it yourself. I live by this mantra and nobody touches my rides but me.
