2024 TRD Pro 9500 Miles - List of Issues

What are you getting for MPGs on the LC? What was your price before taxes, if you don't mind my asking?

Opened back door yesterday, heard snapping sound, door trim kinked. March 23 Platinum. Have been opening and closing same door everyday. Can only think trim expanded in heat and overlapped front door.

 

I’m wondering the same thing. Went with the simplest possible Tundra that still had a crew cap. Regular 2024 SR5, about 7k miles, so still a baby. But still - no issues to speak of. Mirrors aren’t power mirrors, no trailer sensors, less electronics overall. Less stuff to break!

 

That’s crazy, looking at mine I don’t see anyway it could expand enough to get even close to doing that

 

Unfortunately, this is a commonly reported problem, especially with the darker colored door trims. They expand in the heat, as you assumed.

 

Radio knobs break - Have a 23 Pro October 22 build. Radio knobs solid

Seat plastics break - Agree, very poor design-second one starting to crack and will address at upcoming 20K service

Excessive wind noise and whistle from both side view mirrors - No issues

Something rattling in driver's backrest - No Issues

Seat track covers falling off - No issues

Turbos catch fire and must be replaced every 150-250k, according to Toyota-Will worry about this when I get close to stated mileage

Fluctuating battery voltage causing stalls or failure to start - no issues

Fuel tank recall - had interim repairs-waiting on final fix-no issue

Engine failures - not on recall list currently as its a Hybrid. Suspect it will come on the list at some point

Premature fuel pump failures - No Issues

Cheap caps on end of rear bumper come off in car washes - No Issues

Terrible turn radius vs. Gen2/2.5 - Yes, it does turn like a tank. Driver skills overcome this

Smaller cab on outside and inside vs. Gen2/2.5, even with CrewMax. - IMO cab is huge and quite comfortable

Smaller windows than Gen2/2.5 - great window visibility

Windshields not installed straight - No Issues

Cheesy fake engine sounds pushed thru the radio - Easily disabled, built my own CAT Back exhaust and sounds fine for a V6

Cost MUCH more than a low mileage Gen2/2.5 with a Magnuson supercharger installed, which goes faster and pulls better than anything that can be done with a v6-V=V6 pulls pretty good and gets solid MPG. Pretty fast for a 6000lb brick.

Cracking and peeling of the spray in bedliner-I had an aftermarket spray liner installed. so much better than Toyota as 30% less cost

The panoramic roof will leak just like they do on exotic European vehicles - Bone dry here

When the tank is 3/4 full and park on an incline, the gas gauge incorrectly resets itself to full. No issues with fuel guage and accurate reading. However, my 22 Tundra did have this problem

Door windows rattle- no issues

Rear window rattling when down - no issues

Rattle coming from headliner - none

Center console rattles and creaks - No issues

Passenger knee trim pops out and has to be replaced - No issues

Door card/interior panels pull off too easily - Never tried to pop one of the panels-but all are solid

Seats cracking in the 1st year - No Issue

Seals on all windows and doors wear out quickly - Just check the other day and all are in good shape

Blinding glare of hood due to angle - Not an issue solved wearing a good pair of Oakley's

Heater not blowing hard enough - Works fine

AC not blowing hard enough - Works fine at 38-40 degree

Tailgates falling off in owners hands, resulting in damage to the tailgate and possible injury to the owner - Not an issue

Worse MPG than Gen2/2.5 because the engine is working harder, particularly when pulling a trailer uphill"[/QUOTE] Don't pull a trailer, but do drive at 70-80 MPH range. Recent 1600 mile road trip averaged approximately 20MPG. Around town 17-18 MPG Summer fuel of course. My yard stick is owning several 4Runners and my bro having numerous Tundra's for business. The Gen 3 IMO meet MPG expectations.

 

I’m at 2008 miles and I’m getting 25.6 MPG….I was anywhere from 23.1-24.4 since day one. Once I hit 1800 miles, it started going up a little more. 50/50 high city and that’s a stock 1958.
I paid 57k because it had the roof rack which added another $1400 or so
