Lifter issues?

 

Yes sir. To properly disable the AFM you have to pull the SC & Heads, replace the AFM lifters and delete the solenoids...then reinstall.

 

Well I just got back from the test drive.



Wow. Just wow. The chassis on this car is pretty damn good. The live rear axle hurts the Shelby a bit on the corners (obviously) but it makes up for it coming out of the apex.

Even with Michelin PS2 tires, there is definitely a traction barrier. I know 1st & 2nd can get sporty...but damn 3rd and 4th just pull hard and I never even went over 5400 rpm.

The owner said he would build a coyote motor (he has a 2018 GT mustang too).

What surprised me was the comfort. This car doesn't have the Recaro seats and it was still just something you can jump in and drive 600 miles.

I thought the BMW M2 was pretty snappy....not even in the same ballpark. Now the M2 brakes and handling are 100% better for sure.

Decisions decisions.

Same. Easier for repairs, parts, reliability and resale.

 

Well some of it. Not much one can do having a live axle vs IRS. Does Ohlins make an adjustable damping shock from inside the cab like factory? That would be cool if they did.

 

I would 100% buy the Mustang over the BMW. I know where the end dollars go.

 

For sure. The back end slid out a few times and lit the tires a bit. Pretty impressive but a little shocking when not expected.

The newer (think 2018) ford redesigned the rear to IRS. Helps a lot with the spin and smash.

 

Was it tested at a crowd yet or is that test pending?



Any interest in the older (early 2000’s) Cobra SVT’s? Those are beauts too

 

I do believe they still go bowling for spectators at all cars and coffee evens. Can't fix stupid once you start sliding....chopping the throttle is the last thing you want to do.

I could only imagine what one of those early SVT stands cost in good condition.

Those were such fun street cars back in the day. Slow AF, but fun.

One of my military buddies had a 1993 Mustang GT and we topped it out going to Reno NV. We got passed by a Mercedes 300 series from one of the other pilots. That was impressive.

 

Man, those cars are just sexy now. Back then it didn’t seem like it, but now it would be so damn awesome to own that body style

 

I always wanted to own one but a good friend died in a Fox body right in front of me. Almost took another one of my friends that night too. I was half way inside the car and noticed the driver was drinking. I decided not to (little angel on the shoulder) and two minutes later there was a crash in Kmart parking lot. Made that Mustang look like a U.

Yep. Cody blew the hatchback out with his body. I would have been sitting next to him. My friend Wayne was in the passenger seat where the impact was and put him into the drivers seat. Rusty (driver) was blown out the drivers door and he ran off. The police thought Wayne was driving until we told the LEO what happened.
