My wife and I have been married for nine years this upcoming April.

Throughout the years, I / we have found these to be effective.

1- Communication...without communication, things just seem to not function as they should.

2- Time alone. My wife and I try for a 'date night' at least 2x a month...this seems to help us get "our time" without the kiddos

3- Support. It doesn't matter what it is..support one another..do for them as you would like them to do for you.

    4- Sexy time...because sex.

What are some of the rules you live by?

13 years with my wife, 10 married.

    1) "I'm sorry, I love you, you're right"...don't have to mean those words, just say them when she's pissed.
    2) I have an iPhone keyboard shortcut configured to autocorrect "whateverbitch" to the quoted phrase in #1 above.
    3) When 1 and 2 doesn't work, buy her a purse

I should also add "humor" to it...I am a bully at times to her...
I take screen shots of her desktop and apply it as her desktop...then she can't figure out why her icons won't work....I have sent her to the store to get 'blinker fluid' for her Heep....I will put the transmission in neutral at stop lights...I have attached a rubber band around the vegetable sprayer on the sink...I have added keyboard shortcuts on her phone...i.e: the word "and" would be reached with "Sean is king"....it made for some interesting texts..

a year and a half of marriage under my belt and i've learned

#1 the old saying "happy wife = happy life" is true
#2 if it comes down to something i want to do, make it seem like "her" idea, not mine.

I bought this on 1/12/14 and have added a code alarm remote start, an Alpine head unit with Nav and a backup camera.
I went 37 years before she got fed up with my shit and died on me.

Well didn't really happen that way, she was progressively sick for 5 years then passed.

Talk TO each other not at.

been with my wife for 10 years, married almost 4 years...
For us it seems like these are the keys..

Trust, compromise, and don't let issues build up - mention the issue right away and fix it together.

I just laughed my ASS off at that one! My ex would have fallen for that one.

    This is said in humor:
2 simple rules for a happy marriage.
    Rule#1
: The wife is ALWAYS right.
Rule #2: If the wife is ever wrong, please refer to rule #1.
