I cut a piece from the headliner to fit the gap glued it down then put velcro over it. I think it looks pretty clean. If you do it, get some foam block from home depot to stuff behind the headliner so you don't have gaps on the sides.

Forgot to tell you I peeled off the fabric from the cut out headliner to put over the gap which is stuffed with headliner. It ends up looking like a patch which I didn't like so I put velcro over it.

New to the forum. Wondering if this will work from 07 to 2020 models. I loved the storage in my 07 but recently got the 20

Yes, that is the whole point of this thread

    2nd Gen is 01-13
    2.5 gen is 14-21

This thread takes it from a 2nd Gen and adds it to a 2.5 Gen.

IMG_4028.jpg IMG_4032.jpg IMG_4033.jpg Did this mod this week. Loving the extra storage and extra lighting. I bought the dbl cab version for my crewmax. I had VLed bulbs from when I switched to the Meso customs lights. So I added those to the rear facing dome light a new console.

I will say that there is a bit of a gap along the sides between headliner and console. It feels as though the new one isn’t pulling tight to roof frame. I may pull it down in the spring and try to reposition. But for now it'll stay.

SOLD If anyone wants to do this conversion, I got a console to do it, but it's the darker gray and I don't want to mix it up. I have listed this in the gen 2 marketplace, I'll let it go if someone will cover the shipping. SOLD

The part number I used for the console shown above was 63650-OC2700-BO. I 2019 SR5. My bluetooth mic was not located in the console there was just a piece of foam in the 3 little slats, and the wire harness on the 2nd and 2.5 gen. fit fine lost no function with anything.

So you just transferred the harness from your console to the other one?

Was it easy to swap? Just plug and play basically?

Yep it was pretty straight forward. The actual speaker component itself snaps into the console. I had to trim a little plastic tab with a razor to get the '18 speaker into the ''07 console. All in all im happier knowing that I still have all of my original electrical stuff in there.

Yes just a swap. No speaker movement on my end, the original smaller overhead did not have a speaker in it. The speaker was located in a different location.

I may have screwed up the zeros and O’s. I had it written down. Honestly the easiest way to find it is to search eBay starting with years 2007 forward. Then decide if you want the crew cab version or the double cab version.

Just ordered from Fred Anderson Toyota. Crew max console with two clips and screws. $185 out the door. Love that 25% sale. That’s about the going rate for a used one off eBay. Siked to do this project. Little nervous cutting the roof liner.

Nice. It’s definitely a welcome addition for storage.
I removed my existing one held up the new long one, then traced the inside with carpenters pencil. I stayed about 1/2” tight to inside, then rounded the rear corners. Be sure to use a nice sharp blade.

Thanks for all the info. Seems pretty easy then. Swap electric and cut the roof.
