So glad I’m off call, only had one sewer issue to deal with. The check should be nice, but I’ve got over 500hrs of sick/vacation to burn

Hahah naw I’ve already watched the videos I need to. It’s nuts and bolts, and welding. It’s just a lot of it kinda……
New lower arms with octagon cam tabs and plates going in. I’m hoping I don’t have to pull/move the rack to accomplish my mission.

I just got a quote from a shop for 5.5k to install arb air compressor, rear air locker, and regear to 4.56 on my 2001 4x4 v8. Does that seem high to anybody else? I'm looking over the quote and it shows fair prices for the parts and $125/hr for labor.

Don’t get an air locker, they are prone to leaking(air)
But yeah that sounds about right, maybe a little high. I spent probably 3.5 on parts and gears being built, I installed the diffs myself. So what are the quoting the entire job for labor?

If you have to burn that off before Jan 1st, you could just take a 2 week vacation now and then tell them your taking off some time after Halloween and won’t be back until next year!

462 + 595 for trans rebuild. I have heard of the air leak problems but that normally happens if the pressure gets too high so a pressure relief on the line to the lockers should fix that. This shop said that they warranty all their work and work on offroad rigs a lot too so i'm sure they are aware of the issues but ill bring it up to them if i go forward. I don't really want an e-locker because of the rolling back and forth to get it to engage and some other problems i've read about them.

You can’t collect more than 300hrs of one, not sure which, by Jan 1st
But I usually only call out sick, right before a vacation hahah, or if I’m doing a side job that makes me 3x my daily, so I stack them well.
There is one dude that’s a hunter, and he literally takes off the entire month of December(we also have 12 paid days off during that time, “shut down”)

I did a lot of digging for a locking rear end. And every fucking air locker review I watched one of the chief complaints was they can be prone to leaking. So when I couldn't find a factory 4.08 LSD I said fuck it went with the lunch box style locker. Sometimes simple is best

I take the last 3 weeks of December and the first week of January every year myself. One year I left the week of Thanksgiving and didn’t come back until January 2, but they put a stop to that.

Once upon a time in the last century you could indefinitely accrue vacation hours. Some people took no vacation time and a big payout when they left or took a 6+ month sabbatical. I only experienced that for a few years though myself.

I have heard the same things. However I have also heard issues and drawbacks of every other kind of locker as well. You ever do so much research on something that you feel overwhelmed and just want to pull the trigger on SOMETHING? haha that's kinda where i'm at with these lockers. So many youtube videos about people testing them and forums about complaints and problems. I figured since I am getting onboard air and regear, might as well go with the air locker and add some o-rings to my repair kit.

Totally hear you. Just my advice, it’s a big commitment I know. Also look into gear polishing, if your installers frown or don’t know about it and turn you away….. look for another shop

This is exactly why I posted on here was to hear from you all so thank you! I might bite the bullet on this one and chalk it up to experience since I've only had factory lockers on my tacoma and they worked perfectly I've never had to make this decision before haha. I'll definitely ask about the polishing and see what they say!

So you had a taco with factory elockers and they never failed you? Stick with the elockers, Eaton is a great company with quality products.
I haven’t fully tested my rear locker for technical trails, but I’m excited to see what I can do

I ran that taco with jeeps and other rigs that were much more built but that thing did everything I threw at it. If it was irreparably damaged I would still have it and love it :(

I would be inclined to agree based on the pic but i definitely hydroplaned across all 4 lanes of the freeway and hit the guard rail and rolled a few times which is most likely what broke the lbj

    Seems fair to me.
I paid like $3-4k two or three years ago for 4wd regear and rear e-locker installed. I already had all the parts. No extra parts like the air compressor though.

    Weight reduction, mostly rust.
I jumped the relay when I was going through my fuel system (stall issue) to rule it out.
My stall was in gear/stop light type (also no code thrown). If you have a scan tool, Live Data would be interesting to look at... like what happens right before the stall with say MAF signal/ both banks 02 sensor 1s/ maybe even TPS%
I also flushed and actuated all my injectors like you, I also ohm checked them. Sometimes She would hard start after a run-sit for 10 minutes at the store, my thought was injectors flooding out. But yours seems to fire right up?
I think you checked your cam sensor wiring too?

Double posting something I threw in the LBJ thread. Did a search but can only come up with info on the mounting bolts.

Anybody got a part number handy for the LBJ castle nut? 2005 DC 4x4. I bought the recall kit, they threw some cotter pins in the box but no castle nuts. My old ones are, uh, not coming off the old LCA.

Local ACE hardware had ones that fit but the "castle" portion is too tall to get a cotter pin thru the LBJ. I can torque them to get me to the alignment shop, but I don't want to drive around or on the highway on them.
