What kind of keyless entry do I have?

Not sure if this been asked but I could find a related topic. (2000 ltd 4wd tundra) I found this module under the steering wheel. Can't tell what kind of fob/remote I need to get and program . I purchased this with out a fob. I was running cable for the rear camera in found this module with a bunch of fuses taped and attached to other cables. Can anyone direct me to what kind of remote I need for it?

 

Its got a general motors logo on it, so i'd start your search there.

If there's a part number anywhere on there it may help. Likely discontinued. The date code appears to be early 2000's. The FCC ID is another way to find a remote.

You need to understand something. And this is coming from shop experience.

The FCC ID on that GM alarm system was filed in 1998 for DEI as @KNABORES said, which is a major company (Voxx uses the "EZS" prefix), but here's the thing ... The lifespan on aftermarket alarms is typically 10, 15 years if you're lucky.

I can appreciate what you're trying to do, but honestly, you'd be better off buying a replacement alarm rather than a replacement fob in this case, especially for a 20+ year old General Motors alarm product installed into your Toyota pickup.

Anything in the DEI family of brands (Clifford, Avital, Viper, Python, etc.) is a safe bet and will get you years of operation.

You could be a cheapsakte and see if they'd be nice enough to send give you a pic of the wiring schematic, and look to see if there's a fob part# listed in the book, and even if there's programming instructions. But bro, it's $16 + tax. Just buy the damn thing.

I can tell you after looking for a sec, the fob that's tied to that rceiver is GM p/n 12490830. But without that book potentially giving you programming instructions, you're sending yourself down a rabbithole of trying to figure it out.

DEI only used a handful of fobs over the years, I used to work at a shop that installed DEI stuff (Avital, Clifford). There are a bunch of fob shops on the internet, they can potentially look it up. But I'd rather just buy the instructions with a new brain. Maybe swap out the black box with a brand new one in the auction site, and be good for another 10yrs.
