What have you done to your 2.5 gen Tundra today?

Finding cryo treated rotors in stock is like gold right now. I have been looking for new StopTechs....found 1 of 4.

 

Have you tried frozen rotors?

Had the stock 1794 fake wood trim plastic steering wheel start cracking a little while ago. Ordered a replacement steering wheel from Revesol on eBay - all black leather with gray stitching and black center stripe. Quality feels on par with OEM and feel is great.

 

I'm going to pretend I didn't read that...I live in the "valley of the sun" AZ where we've seen 110+ for weeks over the last few summers. I have my NOCO in the center console. Just need to pull it out every couple months to charge it.

 

I wonder how hot it gets under a bed cover. I need to put a thermometer back there and check it out. I’ve been wanting one of these but it gets het here - hit 109 last week. I guess it’d probably be fine for 9-10 months per year.

 

Hell yeah. LOLOL. I think it’s all the towing I’ve been doing too. Junk hauling side hustle. Least I’m putting the truck to use!!!

Caught quite a few bugs in my grille navigating thru the Great Smoky Mountains this weekend.

Any way, I haven’t gotten a chance to pull off the front tires yet. From just an eye inspection, I think they’re a bit past half life for the fronts - rears a bit more difficult to see. Rotors might be shot too, so I’ve ordered a thickness caliper to measure it and if it’s under minimum thickness, they’ve gotta go. SMH. It’s only been 15k miles on these rotors and pads. Could possibly go up to 20k if I stop towing so much.

I use the Toyota app to log all of my maintenance. Pretty helpful of keeping history.

 

My wife didn’t like my black wheels looking bronze. And it was a bitch to clean. But damnit they stopped so well. I swapped back to OEM after like 5k miles lol.

 

Should have just gotten bronze wheels.....

Lucky for me that's what I have.

 

Dude, they stop extremely well. I’ve stepped on it once and it legitimately stopped right when I wanted to.

Then again, I broke in the pads to the point of where my ABS light turned on.

 

How did you break them in? That was my next Google search.

 

Basically do 10 5-60-5 pulls consecutively and then drive around normal for 30-45 mins without stopping to let your brakes cool off. It’s pretty fun to do, and smells great.

 

Find a long stretch of road.

Go 50, down to 40, down to 30, down to 20, roll to let it cool. Repeat this process at least 3-4 times or until your ABS doesn’t like what you’re doing.

 

Your method might be a little safer…

 

Lol! Whatever floats honestly. As long as you’re letting the rotors cool before you go at it again. There are so many ways to bed in the pads, but with 15k miles on mine, haven’t had an issue until recently. The metal shim on the pads are probably squealing and telling me it needs to be replaced… OR, it’s just cause it’s Yellow Stuff and they’re meant to actually be used to stop quickly and hard.

That’s what I get for buying track pads. Not sure if I want to go with yellow stuff again or back to OEM. Front/Rear rotors with pads is gonna run about $550… sigh.

 

Glad to hear no issues. I plan to keep it under the back seat. Doesn’t do any good if you can’t store it in the truck for immediate use when needed. Hell, you can’t even store it in the garage because I’m sure that’s over 122 degrees as well.

 

Yall with ebc yellow pads are cute thinking it stops well. Lol jk they do well for what you get. Better than the z36HD setup for sure

 

Just learned they also turn your rims bronze. Bonus for me!

It would be a drive for you, but Sean at New England Rust Prevention (nerustprevention.com) in Ayer, MA did it. I found them via the NHOU website and they did a great job.

I believe there was someone who posted up in the MA section, closer to the city/south shore, that was doing it as a side hustle. Ayer was just too close for me to pass up.
