Definitely hard to find a comfortable sleeping position when the shoulder(s) are on fire :annoyed:

I hope you get to feeling better soon. In the meantime, if you have a decent recliner, I've found that when my shoulder flares up I can get pretty decent sleep lounging back in a recliner. Something about the positioning of it that forces the shoulder into a more neutral position which definitely helps if you're dealing w/rotator cuff issues, and for some reason I sleep better in that position on a recliner than I do in a more flat position on a bed :notsure:

Working through the broken "medical industrial complex" to get my shoulder back. Real bad timing so close to my retirement.

Honestly, get a quick consult with an attorney. The threat of an age discrimination suit will get them right on board with fixing you up. Way less headache to patch you up and make you happy 'til you get the gold watch.

I don't eat mounds or almond joy though. Just enjoyed them in the past.

I had to have my AC joint removed in 1/2
    Removal of inflammation
    Removal of arthritis.

I was given the approval to remove the bandages yesterday. Your shoulder controls a lot more than just your shoulder, as I found out lol. I am still in a sling, and will be probably for the next week or two. I cannot shower myself, cannot put socks or a shirt on or off yet by myself. Having my wife here has been a HUGE help.

Good to have our helpers ain't it?
So, just for reference how are all your other joints? Specifically your other shoulder? I assume it's your dominant arm/side that's hurt. Because all my other joints are fine... I'll temper that with 57yr old fine lol

That 990 Baja edition was my dream bike for a number of years. Never made the upgrade to it though because my 2004 950 gave me everything I needed. I sold it as well as my 2016 690 enduro last sunmer. I missed them for a brief moment but don't have plans to get back on bikes again. Like you and @WAtundra4x4 I had too many close calls with elk and deer so I gave them up.

have you ever tried Accupuncture? When your back locks up the muscles around your injured vertebrae need help releasing their hold and accupuncture always helps me reduce my healing time to a day or two. A well focused chiropractor who isn't just a fly by night crack doc is also helpful. It's hard to find good chiro's but they can also help tremendously if you find the right one. My guy doesn't do an adjustment per se when my back is out but will manipulate the muscles almost like a massage therapist would until he can get them to release. I'll struggle walking in, but feel great walking out.

The sheriff questioned me wrt the horse hit as deer and elk are around, I remember seeing something further up the road before the two horses jumped in front of me. A guy who stopped said there was a chunk of fur in the road and confirmed it was horses. The horses took off. The mc did some tumbling as well as myself in the incident. Photo of the bike going to the mc shop where they said the frame was bent by 1/2 inch.
The sheriff took off when a deputy arrived as there was a car deer accident a few miles away. I rode the bike home in first and second gear as the throttle was not working. Front brake hydraulic reservoir was scrubbed off with the mirror. I had help but I should have not picked up the bike with broken ribs. Adrenalin masks injuries I experienced.

Oof. I've picked up a bike with broken ribs as well. And we wonder why women call us stubborn? I think it's just such a natural process of dirt bikes though. You go down, you must get back up and move along. Glad you're still around to tell the tale.

a few pics of my klr that I put down. Broke my collarbone and ended my trip. And yes my dumbass tried to pick it up and start it.:anonymous:

Dumpsters tend to do that... Keep the fire at a smolder so it easily flares up when you're not ready for it.

I laughed my ass off at this and felt old by the remark. Specifically the old school part. Not judging, just laughing. For perspective, as a kid I’d go to video arcades, drop $5 over a couple hours. Got my kid gaming consoles when he was little. Last thing I played was sega genesis, I think I killed a few hours on vector man.

    25yrs later
My Kid talked me into getting a meta quest vr thing, WOW. Very cool for 2 weeks, now sits in a drawer. I can’t justify devoting so much time to games.
Fun, no doubt, but not something I can relate to.

When I had my first shoulder done, I was married to my first wife. She was less than good for nothing. Zero help for any daily tasks, plus I literally had to trim 1/3 of a 50' tall tree while my shoulder was still in a sling (it was on the alley and the trash truck pulled a major limb down). My little slice of hell... On my 2nd shoulder, and 2nd-and-final wife, I don't think I did anything resembling work for over a month. Socks, showers, a glass of water - - she did everything. If ever there was a way to measure blessings...

Not sure what to do at this point. Certain tiny little angles are tough, and certain other angles aren't. Anti-inflammatories and rest (and occasionally a bit of gratuitous whining) will see it better enough to navigate light-weight life by EOW, and I'll likely be back to old-but-normal by mid September. If I can stomach riding in an Uber to my friend's house tomorrow afternoon, I'm going to see if a dose of whisky and cigars will help. One of these days I'm going to have to go under a knife about it.

Hoping my mid-Sept fishing trip and dove hunting aren't impacted.

    That takes me back.

My brothers and I have been playing a lot of Battlefield 2 (2005) lately on a friend's server. There's a good WWII mod for it called Forgotten Hope that's really fun.

Sounds like you've been managing it for a while so I'm sure you already have your routines to stay pain free. I fractured 3 vertebrae in high school and have been doing the same. It's always the little things when I throw mine out. Weird bending or something stupid like you said about weird angles and or reaching. If I'm heavy lifting I use really good form and everything is fine. Keeping my core strong and engaged has also helped. Back pain is the worst and I hope you're good to go for your Sept trips.

Today’s PSA: When you sit down in your seat on an airplane, immediately figure out where the life vest is stored. If it is needed you’ll save your life and everyone around you.

I just watched a video of some tests being run and it is amazing how many people struggle to find the vest when the only pressure is they know there’s a camera watching/recording.
