Probably very dependent on moisture and humidity in the locale you live in.

Sorry; I was thinking that the original column builder (in California) probably has even less to worry about in this regard than most others (like you or me in humid or wet conditions).

That was from last year when I devoted about 3 or 4 weeks on it and then the heat domes burned most of it up about a month later. This year, not so much time spent on it and more time spent on working on myself. :)

I didn't do any home improvement but I did fix a scooter and a razor 360 power bike thingy. Had to do some splicing to make them work.

It is for about 3 weeks out of the year. Then it's either too hot and humid, too cold and humid, or too allergery.

At my new house we seem to lose power monthly and haven’t been through a whole winter yet so expecting some fun week long events occasionally haha. Also discovered with wells, no power no water. So ended up getting two Honda generators (one for house one for well) and found some neat through the wall exhaust kits and interlock kits so im all setup for the next outage (plus they can run in the well house and garage without moving or anything, easy to check on and secure). Generac wasn’t really possible here due to no natural gas and running one on propane isnt a great recipe.

Not today but the month of August. Poured a new front porch. I wouldn't be happy if this were for a client but it's fine at my house. I was experimenting with pouring a nosing, lights in the pour and relieved "panels" on the sides. Since concrete was being delivered, I poured a perimeter foundation for the MBR deck (fire prevention) and converted half the deck into an 8x10 walk-in closet.Front porch.jpg framed closet.jpg

I'm in NorCal and PGE swapped out my meter for one that has a plug in port for your generator and gives you a 25' power cord, all for free. All you need is a generator 5k watts or bigger with a 220v 30-amp outlet to power it. Super easy to use and powers the whole property.

Starting the next project. Converting kitchen closet into coffee bar/dry bar with hidden liquor cabinet in the newly discovered dead space nextdoor.

i'm guessing this was acting as the pantry?
did you build a new pantry, or just doing away with it?
i'm curious to see what you come up with on this:popcorn:

Whatever this forum told me to do
<y'all may already know about these, but the world is flat to me>

    Just sharing some fun stuff.

I put these WiFi switches to control the various exterior lights on the lake house.

now I can set schedules & control on/off from my phone.

and they still function like normal switches.

most importantly, I can use my phone to turn on the patio ceiling fan when I sit on the rocker on the back deck.

Thats crazy that PGE does that for free. I've looked at those meter adapters before....they aren't cheap either. Are you in an area that has "safety power shutoffs"?

The kitchen already has a nice walk in corner pantry so this was just a 2nd panty? I found the original floor plan and it was an option to be a coffee bar so I'm not going too far off the deep end. But usually we plan our projects out way better and I'm kind of wingin it on this one so I'm curious to see what I come up with too!

Kind of a budget build. Got all the wiring done for lights and outlets with off cuts from other projects, only 2ft to spare. Framed the liquor cabinet part in square so I can easily skin the inside. Calling it a night.

    Kinda home improvement....
Got a dakboard setup and TV to display our family's calendar. With 5 kids and us 2, we wanted a setup to see as we walk in with schedules and all. Had some trouble getting this going because of some issues with the dakboard, but a buddy came and helped me out (previous tundra owner). Hoping this will help thr kids as they get older and have more functions to help them and not just mom n dad doing it all.
Going to mount the board and wires behind the TV.

Roof sheeting, insulation and the rest of interior wall sheeting showed up. Should be able to get roof sheeting done by Monday. Finished woodshed today, waiting on floor to dry to fill it up.DSCN5186.jpg DSCN5188.jpg DSCN5189.jpg

Not anything too exciting, but I had to fight with a shower valve cartridge that just didn't want to come out. It was stuck worse than I've ever seen...and I had a brief stint working as an apprentice plumber in my younger days. This thing was stubborn! But no more leaky shower in the master bath, so it was worth it.

Finished the half bath. Replumbed, new outlet for the smart toilet, then repaired the sheetrock. Wife did the wallpaper, then I put in the smart toilet, and converted an old radio carcass to a vanity. Made a small shelf for the remote out of scrap spalted sycamore I've had about 15 years.
    I highly recommend a smart toilet, you'll be your wife's hero...and you'll be pretty spoiled once you use it, too....PXL_20240902_190449485.jpg PXL_20240902_190522780.jpg PXL_20240902_190545695.jpg

I don't think I have ever heard of a smart toilet, so I Googled. Ho Lee Shit, I found a $10,000 Kohler with voice control. I just can't see myself ever spending that kind of money on a shitter, or talking with one.

Check the build link in my signature.
What the fv(< exactly does a smart toilet do? Analyze my stool and give diet recommendations? Wipe my butt for me? Wash and blow dry my balloon knot?

genuinely struggling to understand what in the world could be made “smart” about a mechanical float valve, a porcelain tank, and a porcelain bowl with a wiered trap molded into it…
