The thread about basic lifts for SR5 TRD Sport?

Wife finally OKed a small lift and was told that anything under 3 inches does NOT void any warranty and can still use factory suspension etc...

So I have learned so far that 1.75 inch (rough country seems to be everyone's basic goto?) is what i need for level... if I want to go just a bit taller what would be the suggested... I will NOT be gong with 35s because of the loss in MPG, but prolu go up to 33s ... so is there a 2.5 front and 1 inch rear?

Super novice here so more info, links, details the better...

    Thanks!

She looks like this at the moment...

I am no expert, but my .02.....

Any lift may, or may not, void warranty. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act is a set of laws that require manufacturers to prove an aftermarket modification caused the damage.

For example, it would be next to impossible to prove that a lift kit caused your front seat panel to crack, or window trim to start whistling. Conversly, it is much more plausible that a lift changed the suspension geometry, which led to damage on the lower strut attachment point (bottoming out a misaligned strut by going over a large enough bump).

There is no lift on the market, besides a Toyota produced lift (TRD 3 inch) or lift installed and specifically warrantied by Toyota, that definitivly does not void warranty. That leaves you with one option, the TRD level/lift.

Personally, I am waiting to take delivery of a Westcott designs preload collar kit.

Westcott Designs has a solution for you. There are haters out there, but I’m really happy with mine from WD. Somebody on here said “you don’t need to worry about your warranty until something breaks.”

Question for you, since I am going to have a WD kit installed here pretty soon:

    (1) what does your alignment look like?
    (2) did you buy the fender liner kit for oversize tires? It's a separate kit they sell for ~$150

I have the same numbers on my alignment as WD have posted in photos of their products. Is that what you mean by look like? No, I didn’t buy the fender liner kit, however my wheels are offset +18 and only run 35’s and i have zero rub.IMG_0136.jpg

I did the rough country 1.75 level kit front and rear. At the same time I removed the spoiler, left the spoiler motor. The only reason I did it was for oil changes so I wouldn't have to jack the truck up, cosmetics were an added benefit. Running 275-60-20 Pathfinder at tires.

Until the spring compressor tools arms are replaced the dealerships are not allowed to do the installs.

Just have to install the updated arms on the spring compressor. Most likely one failed and somebody got injured. Then they reliezed the arms were not strong enough for the new springs in the kits I'm guessing.

This looks like what I think I would like can you direct me to the kit you bought? I love my rims so want to keep them but would like to upgrade the tires to only 33s... not sure how that calculates to tire numbers

Stock size is a 32.5" tire..."Going up to 33s" will change the height of the truck by a whole 1/4 inch.

As others have said no Lift is going to void your warranty unless what ever part fails is related to suspension. If its suspension then that will not be under warranty because it will likely be easily proven your lift caused the failure. Rip a CV boot that probably won't be covered either. Rip a brake line because you didn't replace the lines for the added lift...yep you guessed it that won't be covered either.

Save your lunch money if you're thinking rough country and buy something proper Eibach E80-82-096-01-22 is pretty good value and will always out perform rough country. Dobinsons IMS shocks and their springs are the best bang for your buck based on what people are reporting.

Keep in mind anything over 2" in the front and you are looking at needing red TRD axles (which looks like you should already have with a TRD). Also keep in mind for over 2" lift it is recommend you need upper control arms as well to make alignment feasible. Something to keep in mind is proper UCA's are around $600-$1200.

If you go cheap and do the Rough country lift don't come back here asking why the ride sucks. You get what you pay for when it comes to suspension.

Hell 35's fit on these trucks with no lift, but hell if you want to spend money nobody is stopping you.

Quote your source on recommending a UCA if you lift above 2” and got my alignment done no problem without an UCA

As you noticed there I said recommend and didn't use the word required.

Also from fox racings website for two different kits.
    upload_2024-8-26_15-57-53.png
    upload_2024-8-26_15-58-9.png

Also that is what Dobinson's told me when I enquired via email.

Can you get it alighted without it? Sure. Is there more adjustment with a new UCA to make the alignment easier and provide overall better geometry in the suspension and your ball joints then that answer is also yes. Will your ball joints on your stock UCA's wear out faster and cause your alignment to go to shit that's a yes. Seeing how ya have a 2024, I'm guessing you don't' have too many miles on your set up yet, so give it some miles on your truck and see how your tires are wearing and if your stock ball joints are still in tact and report back.

...come to the internet asking strangers for advice and well you get advice, never stated I have a "source".

Pretty awesome your wife let you spend some money.

I might wait a bit before spending money on your truck with everything going on with the third gen's. People always like to pull the MM act out of their asses, but good luck fighting them when they tell you to get bent. I speak from experience with Dodge.

I disagree, I put on a set of RC Vertex coilovers to level the front and am overly impressed with the ride quality. Definitely better than stock, so much so that I am replacing the rears with RC. And i still have adjustability if needed.

Don't see where I compared RC to the stock ride and if you're happy with your purchase than great....

Actually don't think Kings are anywhere near worth the money they charge and wouldn't ever recommend those.

Will the Rough county ride better ride than stock? Looks like you got a $1200 set of RC coilovers for the front, so I hope they do. For a little more money can you do better than RC? yes absolutely. Sounds like the OP is looking to go cheap Rough country, not $1,200 Rough country. Dobinsons IMS is going to be a tad more than your front coil overs for front and rears with springs, so all four corners for a little more than the fronts you bought.

As I said homeboy if you're happy with your RC then great. Hell if we're playing the money is no object game then game then get the fox 3.0..
