Just took a look at the seller's profile. I have a hunch on who was driving that thing.

Had a new guy at the shop once that didn't know much about cars. We asked him to put air in the tires because the TPMS light was on. He came back after some time and after we checked, he had inflated them to 75 PSI. My manager at the time was in disbelief, hah.

Some of you might remember the Lexus LS430 I purchased almost a year ago:
    IMG_1990.jpg

If you don’t, here’s the scoop: I wanted a car that would be super comfy and fairly efficient for the long highway drives I do. I bought this car for $3500, and did the timing belt, brakes, two wheel bearings, upper control arm, starter motor, and tires. So far I have about $4500-5000 invested and I love it. It hit 250k miles the other day and it still runs like a sewing machine. I’m the 7th owner. It used to have two 10s in the back. It was not taken care of for a long time, yet it’s still been a great car to us.

Despite it’s cosmetic blemishes and beat up interior, the rest of my family loves it too. So much that we decided to get another one:
    IMG_0025.jpg
    IMG_2497.jpg
    IMG_2529.jpg

However this one is very different. 2006, (final year), two owner, California car, 150k miles, immaculate inside and out. It’s my mom’s car, it’s replacing her minivan.

Back in February, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer, for the second time. It runs in the family, and it was caught early, so she is just fine. That said, it’s a hell of a process. She’s in chemo right now and it’s just a lot. She deserved this car. She has talked forever about how she just wants a sportier, more fun vehicle, or even something nicer to drive than our old minivan. So that’s what we got.

The feeling of owning three UZ powered cars is unlike anything else. These cars were $64,000 and $73,000 new, in 2006 and 2002. They’re so fast. And so comfy. And so so so so so smooth. It’s unreal.

I love those Lexus. Amazing cars and even after a hundred thousand miles+ they still feel strong and reliable.

For some reason now that I've got a new battery in my 06, the touch screen keeps turning on the backup camera when on park and drive.

Here’s my advice on LS430 buying: a $5k example is 10x better than a $3k one. These cars are incredibly robust and long lasting, but they can quickly and easily become issue-ridden.

looking at the switches on the dashboard will also show you what trim level the car is. I use this photo I found online:
    IMG_1819.jpg

There are four trim levels: Base, Modern Luxury, Custom Luxury, and Ultra Luxury. Modern Luxury (ML) is good, usually a base car with the good sound system. CL is best, this means that there are numerous options but they often don’t have the massaging seats, soft close doors, or any of the expensive things to replace. Stay away from an Ultra unless you’d like to spend lots fixing air suspension.

There are also a few things you want to check. #1 is the back corners of the trunk, under the trunk liner. Rainwater has a tendency to leak into here, and corrode all sorts of expensive modules that reside there. #2 is to check the condition of the exhaust system. Exhaust leaks are super common on these and often expensive to repair. #3 is door lock actuators. Can be expensive if faulty

Mechanical issues often aren’t hard or expensive to fix. But electrical issues? Run.

I played with it for a while and eventually got it to stop. Still no clue why it was doing that. I'll see if it does it tomorrow.

Could be the worst case, wire braking or shorting in the sheathing still.

I need to replace this touch screen sometime. It has a DVD player which was the appeal, but it has the removable face too. So when I hit big bumps, it restarts or just dies. I'll redo everything once I replace it.

The Alpine ILX W670 that I got is pretty nice. You can't the optional plug in head unit amp for like 350.

I've got a 5 channel amp. But does it have a DVD player? Sometimes when camping I can't sleep and the DVD player is my friend haha

pass...especially for a single cab. I'm mean, an 8' long bed nowadays is only really useful to who?...a landscaper mowing lawns? Don't get me wrong, it's a sweet truck, and that's why i posted up a pic of it. But i don't see spending over $8k for a nice SC.

Me it would be useful to me. I want to frame stretch my AC for an 8ft. But it ain't paying no 18 to 20k for a truck I'm gonna mod and or use for parts

Access cabs are the truck of choice out here for land scalpers. There’s a company by my work that has 5 or so, all towing 2 axle trailers. They have some other interesting trucks as well

Some of the newer ones have a HDMI input. I carry an Amazon fire stick and a HDMI to USBc cord to mirror my phone in my truck since I installed my Alpine ILX- F511

Same here. Same here. And same here.

I did see a VERY nice 8' bed for sale about 200 miles away from me. I could make my own frame extensions, but i'd rather have both a very nice example of both a SC and an AC 4wd V8 trucks. After the frame mods, i'd keep the AC 8' bed for myself, and sell the SC short bed (to help recoup my costs).

The grass grows deeper here on the wet side of oregon, so every landscaper has long bed trucks that have lumber racks with expanded steel on the sides.
