My next truck will be a 3/4 ton so I can be under the 26001 lb DOT requirement. Technically I would just need to get another trailer that is rated to 14500 instead of 16000 lbs. This only matters if I go legit with a business.

Yeah? You'll still have to do the DOT medical, but not needing a CDL and avoiding the logbook will definitely reduce headaches. You plan to stick with a duramax?

For sure. These are solid trucks and so far, best vehicle I have ever owned (at 111k miles now).

Is yours still intact, or did you delete the DEF? Will you have that option with a "commercial" truck?

My truck emissions will always be as it came from the factory. No deletes for this guy. If you drive these trucks as designed you mitigate most problems.

Oh! I thought you had deleted it? Maybe I'm mixing up a convo we had about deleting the AFM on the gassers? It all blurs together on night shifts. LOL

I'm short too. I think I might be your same height, or an inch taller? Depends on if you're height is in your torso or your legs. Mine is legs, so I don't have my seat real close. Could be a slight difference all these years later from what yours was as well. Unless you still have the problem with the '21 you drive? IDK how similar the interiors are.

Maybe. I am tuned on the ECM/TCM but that actually improves my exhaust regen mileage as long as I drive reasonable. Yesterday I went 730 miles between regens when factory it was usually 4-425 miles. I have done 810 miles where it force regens regardless of exhaust soot level.

And the regen is a DEF dump to super heat everything and burn it clean, right?

Perhaps the tune is what I confused with a DEF delete. IDK. My brain does weird shit.

A regen injects diesel fuel into the exhaust, raises temps and burns all the soot buildup into ash. Then the ash is blown out of the exhaust. DEF is always being injected when the truck is running. A complete regen takes about 1-1.5 gallons of diesel fuel. This is why increasing regen mileage is important. Passive regens is the key.

You may have seen it from a diesel truck and thought the head gasket is blown due to the white ash being dumped out.

Ah, ok. I thought the DEF was what was used for it. I knew it was trickled through out use. Never messed with a DEF pickup, but the large rolldeck I drove had DEF. With the fuel capacity they have I never noticed a regen cycle beyond the notice on the dash. Easy to ignore it when you aren't buying the fuel. :D

Oof. Definitely hurts. That's one thing I'll miss about the Taco. Smaller tank meant my brain didn't flinch because the fill ups were never triple digits. Now that I have a 36 gallon I try to fill up before a half a tank to make it seem let costly.

Though, the Taco didn't really get any better mileage than the Ferd, so I'm still coming out ahead or even I guess.

It's just a mind trick. I personally don't focus on fuel economy much. I drive, it uses fuel, I fill. My Mom is with me and she just loves taking the Dmax. After I put on the King Shocks, she loves it even more. Normally she can't take long trips without a lot of pain. In this truck, not even a problem.

She is gonna be mind blown on the next interior and seat options.

Whatever this forum told me to do
Can some of y'all more worldly folks explain to me why young folks get giant arm/neck/visible tattoos and then try to enter the corporate world?

and speak in such a way that you are easily understood.

    upload_2024-8-22_5-44-57.png

see, when I draw the Venn diagram of smart/valuable folks & tattooed folks, those circles barely, if at all, intersect.

and if you are one of those tattooed folks...I don't need you to defend it....I need you to explain it.

My wife has two full sleeves and works in the corporate world, it's never once been an issue for her, but she can completely cover them up with a long sleeve shirt and nobody can tell she has anything. The why is because she wants them, simple as that. What I think you're referring to is the latest Gen Z getting random small, very cheaply done tattoos all over sporadically, which I think is something completely different. They why for that is the same reason that the younger generation eats tide pods and snorts condoms, they think it's cool and will get then credit with their friends, simple as that. Honestly, i blame Tik Tok, it encourages more and more extreme behavior for likes and comments, which leads us to young 20's kids with neck tattoos. I try not to be that grumpy old guy (I'm only 30) looking down at the younger generation, but man it's hard at times.

I disagree with this. Plenty of smart and valuable people get tattoos. Look at military, first responders, security oriented individuals, etc. and there's no shortage of some type of ink. Now, are they often getting neck and face tats or doing extreme piercings that make it look like they lost a fight with an automatic stapler? Probably not.

As for an explanation of why the "kids" are doing it these days.... attention. Going back to previous discussions in this thread, parenting has been shit for a couple generations. Impulse control is a dirty word. Earning something is a foreign concept. Everybody is special and has value, even useless asses. They grew up without ever facing consequences, learning to think for themselves, or hearing that the world doesn't owe you shit. That's why they do it. The can't differentiate feelings from logic/reality so they can't wrap their head around why it would be a bad idea. They're special and have value, haven't you heard?

Ford’s version of “kinks worked out” still means owners don’t go past 100-120k miles.

The simplest explanation: it is generational. The correlation of low socioeconomic status and tattoos decreases every generation and is now all but gone. It’s not just for military, ne’er-do-wells, drunks making a rash but permanent decision, and gang members anymore.

Edit to add: the quality and appearance of tattoo work has also increased dramatically.

This is probably not a shock given where I live, but 100% of the highest net worth people I know have tattoos. Not just friends in the music biz; finance and medicine as well.

I'm not sure I understand why someone would need to spend the majority of their adult life trying to lift a house and be forced to wear abnormally sized clothing... and then enter the corporate world thinking they look and act like the rest of us ;)
