If I remember what I read correctly, all it does is pull air upon startup to help the engine warm up faster

Wish they made a set up to remove it when not offroading. I like the idea and they are smart to have but man its not easy on the eyes.

As a sidebar question - how deep can one submerge the Tundra before a snorkel becomes a necessity?

I was curious of the same question. Of course anything that makes the intake higher such as a lift and tires will allow for a deeper fording but yeah, I was thinking the same thing.
It would be pretty deep on my truck. Probably deeper than I'd want to go.

A snorkels main benefit is not water but the ability to force cleaner air into the motor. It will give you a much better chance in water but you will still need to be cautious. A very wet electrical system can be big problems fast.

I run a pre cleaner (vortex) on my ARB. The air that gets sent to my intake is very clean. IMG_8185.jpg
