Nice. I don't know if it was the hail storm from a few years back or what, but I was shocked at how may vehicles with rebuilt titles were for sale when I was looking. And not a one mentioned why the title was rebuilt. Maybe I'm too cautious, but my approach was that if it was rebuilt and didn't both to say why, I didn't bother to contact them. You'd think if it was just because of hail damage, the seller would go out of their way to let people know. A little different than "oh, it was submerged during Katrina"...or something...

 

My shackle got jacked somewhere between AZ and TX. Or it came off on a trail.

When I was living out of my camper, the trailer ball stayed on all summer. At least once a week I'd need to move to drain the tanks and refill fresh water. Now that I'm living a bit more stationary life, I only put it on when I need it. Shins, and yeah it gets caught on steep approach/departure angles. Not so worried about theft around here, but that's why they make locking hitch pins anyway.

 

My 4wd 06 Tundra leaf packs were also different from my 2wd 03 Tundra.
Both had 3+1, but I believe the middle leaf was a different length on each.

 

Moose knuckle shackles are Notorious for loosening and falling off on trails, one specific trail actually @AZBoatHauler

Honestly Twin Craters was rough because our leader was hauling ass over woops. I'm not a fan of that in my setup.

Gila River has a lot of sandy high speed washes, lots of whoops and washboards. It was a lot fun hauling ass down them locked 2wd

 

Next time... I can't wait to visit AZ and the T2S crew again.

I just love reliable engines, VW tdi and the 4.7 are bulletproof. The Golf gets 43mpg still (275,000 miles) and is my go to travel rig for anywhere paved, even over snowed up Rocky Mountain winters.

My passenger side is 0.5” higher than driver at 4th clip and driver 6th, with completely full tank and empty cab.

I bought the Carfax for it prior to purchase and it was Washington titled it’s whole life, no rust, had all the right maintenance records, and the accident report matched what the seller said. No frame damage, he just replaced the drivers suspension components with a F*#%ing 2001 Spindle/knuckle and LBJ that I didn’t catch until I was midway into lift install. I thought it was an aftermarket LBJ because it looked different but I didn’t think about it being OEM and matched to the 2001 spindle- not 05-06 LBJ compatible. I’m glad I pulled the trigger on it because with the $4k I’ve put in parts I now have a sweet “low” mileage AC that I couldn’t have bought for under 10k. Not going to sell it ever so I don’t mind the salvage title. I didn’t have any idea this VSC system existed though and might not have done it if I had known. But now that I understand it I like it a lot. Much higher psi in braking power. I’m going to rig up an off switch for the traction control when I don’t need it and install what I’ve always wanted since snow wheeling a 90’s 4Runner on 38”s, a selectable rear locker. As long as it doesn’t break I’m a fan, but I can still find compatible parts to replace so I’m not worried

99-2006. Up to 2003 or 4 they were the ALH motor and then the BEW motor onward. I like the newer BEW style (more power, less mpg, fancier internals) but the older ALH can be set to run mechanically without a computer (think reg cab Tacoma swaps) and has cheaper bolt on parts. Just always get a manual trans the autos are trash

I ordered 5/3 and it came 4/3. I think people have figured out that 1 clip is enough. That said, it should be level with people in it. Maybe Bilstein figured that the husband would be driving and the wife was a lil thing. . .


Edit: I went and looked this AM and I should have said, I ordered 6/4 and they came 5/4.

 

A minor disappointment for me is the Tundra TRD "package". On my 98 Tacoma, TRD meant a rear E-locker. That was a real off-road package. I only used it a few times, but boy I was glad I had it. On the Tundra, basically by the time the truck is 20 years old and had parts replaced, TRD isn't really more than a sticker.

Wait, so you're running 4 on passenger and 6 on driver, but passenger at 4 is still half inch higher?

What were your before/after numbers, i.e. how much lift did you get with 5/4? And are you 4WD? (You may want to update your truck info, it shows 5/3)

Yeah, I was lucky if I got 9mpg in my GTI. But I really couldn't help but get into the gears everywhere, it was just too damn fun to drive a car that light with something as beefy as the VR6 and manual. It was the fastest-feeling car ever, and mine was pretty well loaded from the factory. The leather buckets were super comfy. The first thing to go were the interior plastics. Then all the rubber and plastic hoses in the engine bay. Then the pulleys & tensioners (Paul from Gruven Parts was a close friend of a friend, so I had a parts hookup for replacements). Then the A/C went out. And it seems like every year, I'd throw a CEL within 10-12 weeks of emissions, always something aggravating like a cracked vacuum line, EVAP, O2, or other stupid shit. But it wasn't exceptionally hard to work on so I was OK with it. It's one of a couple vehicles I wish I hadn't sold.

I'd argue the earlier years are better, but I think the transition across MKIV VW was similar to the transition across Gen1 Tundras, as in there is a similar mid-gen transition where more features, more HP and less mpg was a thing.

 

@shifty` - - I put my numbers on here somewhere - I might remeasure given its been a few weeks and a few miles. I didn't capture the "before"

 

as of right now in my driveway yes. I will take it out in a little bit and measure on a level surface. I’m buying the hype that you need to offset them though. Nothing but the ARE canopy and a completely full tank of gas that would add any weird weight. Except Maybe my passenger side is lighter because they moved the ABS over onto the drivers side VSC master cylinder? I’ll put a secondary battery or air pump in to level it out.

 

Not looking at the video, the tread alone says they’re unpleasant for long highway drives.

They definitely look cool though.
