I damaged the vinyl on the center console lid of my 2007 Tundra. I am trying to remove the lid from the rest of the box in order to drop the lid off at an upholsterer but I am unable to remove the hinges. Any experience on that task?

Hey sramirau, check with our vendor Trd Sparks. They should be able to help you, also I read a thread over at Tundra Solutions that might help. Someone here will help I'm sure.

If you have the center console that will adjust forward and on the inside of the lid it has a holder to put pens and tissue, all you need is a phillips screwdriver. First open lid and extend the lid out and have a old rag to put over the latch to keep it from locking. at the back of the lid there is a plastic cover that snaps on( no screws) it covers the back of the hinges. once you have that off you will see two screws remove the two screws which will release the pen tissue holder, which then you will see four screws, remove them and the lid will come off. The hinges will stick straight up, Once you have the lid off, turn upside down and remove the trim.

These pics can be combined with cat972g's post. I am sending mine off to have a custom upholstry done to it. Hopefully this will help others. Please read cat972g's post and then check out the pics. Note: I have a second gen Tundra and I do not know if this translate to 3rd gen or not.

    1. Remove plastic cover after armrest pulled forward and a rag under the latch to keep it from catching.

    [IMG] [IMG]

    2. It will look like this once its removed. It can be challenging to get unclipped. Take your time.

    3. Remove the 2 Phillips head screws.

    [IMG] [IMG]

    4. This will loosen the underneath portion of the lid kleenex and pen holder.

    5. Gently remove the kleenex and pen holder which covers the hinges of the armrest. Once this is done remove the 4 screws on the hinges and the armrest is free.

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

    6. Once armrest is removed you can remove the trim pieces on the underneath side.

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

    7. The rest of the pics are the for removal of the slide mechanism which may or may not be needed.

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Hope this helps anyone who needs to do this. Just take your time and and keep track of the screws and it's pretty easy. Thanks to cat972g for the 'How To'.

GTFO. This is exactly what I needed. I’m in the middle of modding a 3rd gen armrest to fit. Perfect timing

I thought I would post a picture of the finished re-upholster. It took a while to get it back because right after I sent it the covid thing happened. Its back now and installed. I think Kylin Brimhall did an awesome job with this. I think mine was the first Tundra console he had done. So hats off and thanks to Kylin Brimhall for the outstanding work.

Thank you very much for taking the time to post this. It saved my ass. Checked YouTube and searched google and found nothing until I came upon your post. Thought I would join so I could say thank you. I’m sure there’s a lot of people that searched the net, found your post, and were helped by your efforts, but were not members so could not give you a like.

Excellent detail and photos in this post. The spring latch on the console lid popped out and thanks to this info, I was able to repair it in about 20 minutes. Much appreciated. Thank you.

Yeah same here as I was thinking of modding mine to add a wireless phone charger.
