They say every friend group has one person who is capable of murder. I’m pretty sure it’s Kyle, so I killed him before he could hurt anybody.

Man on man hugs should start with an extended handshake that rolls into maybe a touch of shoulders, and maybe a pat on the back if you know them well, nothing more.

Nothing wrong with a brotherly hug. Watch the end of Shawshank Redemption. You telling me that hug was wrong?

People in general are becoming extremely uncomfortable with any kind of intimacy. Gen Z and gen Alpha are overwhelmingly against intimate scenes (not sex necessarily, but intimacy) in films. They grew up on iPads with distracted parents and have no category for it. Makes them uncomfortable. They basically only know how to wank it to porn. (Over generalizing, but it holds true for too many…)

Somewhat related on the interpersonal interactions in public front:
I saw a guy I work with sometimes and his teenage son out in public a couple weeks ago and greeted them. I shook the dad’s hand, then went to shake his son’s. Kid clammed up immediately and looked away. His dad said, “he doesn’t do handshakes.” I just shrugged and walked away thinking that kid is going to have a tough time in life if he can’t look a person in the eye for 2-3 seconds and shake their hand. The guy and his wife are really into “gentle parenting” and basically don’t encourage their kids to do anything that makes them the least bit uncomfortable. Seems borderline abusive to me.

I'm not a hugger, but got one from Kevin at T2S in Flag. But, he gifted me a couple of good beers, so that made it OK.

I don't know what movie it's from. I just saw the GIF and used it. Looks vaguely familiar, but can't place it.

Bleh! Lol these days any city over 20,000 is something I tend to avoid and they are at 75,000. I'm sure it has the good areas and bad areas just like any city.

I really need to get the tap measure out and see if either of the extrusion bars for my bed rack will work for the Ferd. Even if they do get the width correct I will still have to come up with a mounting solution. No utility rail on the F150, and the factory one is way lower in the bed. I might be able to come up with a clamp to bolt it to, but I'm not sure. Really not wanting to buy another bed rack or go through the hassle of selling the current one.

Really wanting to go camping though. This year has flown by and I haven't done half the stuff I wanted to. :goingcrazy:

Might have to just throw a tent and a cooler in the bed and go and figure out all the luxuries next year. Nights are already getting cool here.

The cobra chickens were forming up and I saw a flock heading south on Sunday, won't be long now. We're moving into a La Nina cycle too, the Farmer's Almanac is calling for a colder and snowier winter.

Intentionally shielding your child from the mildest discomfort (and patting yourself on the back believing you’re just too forward-thinking for everyone else to understand) is just wild to me.

How is it any different from binding your kid, keeping him from moving so his muscles never actually develop properly? Society would rightly consider that abuse. Doesn’t matter that you did it to prevent him from feeling discomfort. We need discomfort on some base level to properly grow.

This “gentle parenting” trend is the same thing on a social/emotional level and should likewise be considered abusive.

Yup. Parents get progressively more permissive each generation and it's destroying society. No one has a spine, everyone is selfish, nobody has honor. People suck and are getting worse.

Whatever this forum told me to do
    'zactly.

and all of this stems from that damn cell phone.

    one little device.

Social media grips every brain cell, like a crack pipe.

and we pay them to do it to us.

    amazing.

I disagree. I think it is all parenting. Cannot prevent change; cannot stop progress. Take away the cell phone and social media and you would still have some of these issues. Abet reduced a bit.

Parents are too lazy to adapt to today’s environment and teach their kids social skills. Their version of “every opinion matters “ really means “you are special; no one else is”. Tolerance is taught to be subjective. I could go on and on…
