Had the truck indicate a brake controller issue, move into limp mode, and was unable to exceed 5mph. After removing the 7.5A controller fuse the truck was able to move normally, but the lights remained. There was a small amount of oil observed from the rear wheel.

We took it into the dealership today and were quoted $6K for a repair. It seemed to be a parts cannon approach recommending steering spring, position sensor, wheel speed sensor, bearings, axle seals, brake shoes, springs, etc. The trailer brake controller was not included.

It seems hard to believe the tech can't identify a sensor problem before recommending replacement, or lots of replacements.

We have done a lot of vehicle work, and have good reliability out of the tundras, but this makes me not want to support a local dealer.

Anyone had a similar controller issue?

If you have a buddy with a similar year model, swap controllers and see what happens.
