Black pattern in headlights on dark roads normal?

A better description would be a shimmer pattern. It appears to be a defect in the headlight lens, and I think fixing it would require refinishing the lenses to factory perfection. So, more sanding and buffing, and I'd think it might require some specialized know how to get it flawless. I'd be tempted to buy new headlights.

And yes, TRD Off-road packages were functional upgrade packages (not cosmetic) that included improved headlights, suspension, and more. My 2018 is an SR5 with the TRD OR package and has factory led headlights.

If he in fact has a 19 TRD OR, they came with factory LEDs headlights.

 

Yes, my 2019 TRD OR has them as well. But we haven’t seen a pic of the lights to see what’s going on with them.
