    Fellas,

Pretty disappointed with my truck. Want to know if others are having a similar experience. I drive a 2024 TRD Pro with 9.5k miles on it. Bought it in Sept of 2023.

-Right rear passenger door handle failure. Dealer ordered new handle and some other smaller parts and replaced it pretty quickly.

    - Rearview camera guideline failure. (Picture attached) Scheduled appointment with dealer next week.

    - right mirror squeaks incredibly
Loud anytime it tucks in when put in the park. Going to assume that will need to be replaced.

    - Driver seat plastic just broke today. Felt a pop while driving and looked down to a large crack on the plastic. Totally gives out when any side pressure is applied to the seat. (Picture attached)

Just overall pretty frustrated at this point. My 2020 Tacoma was absolutely bulletproof and had no issues with 50k miles on it. I’ve babied this truck so far as well, almost all the miles are highway/interstate. Is anyone else just having a list of issues so far like me? Thoughts on next steps? My confidence in this truck lasting me a long time is dropping by the day.

I was really frustrated with those same types and of issues, and then some. Then I received the recall notification on my app regarding the engine needing replacing. That was the final straw for me (one of the biggest regrets regarding vehicles was selling my ‘18 Tundra). I recently traded my ‘22 in for a ‘24 Land Cruiser and immediately noticed how much better the build quality is. It just seems as if Toyota tried with the LC as opposed to hurrying something out the door with the gen 3 Tundra.

So far no issues with the tranny or engine. Just everything else seems to be falling apart. Are you saying these items wouldn’t bother you on a $75k truck? Go Dawgs!

    From Reddit:

"Here's a list I compiled in just a few minutes of scanning the complaints from Gen3 owners for people thinking about buying one:
    Radio knobs break

    Seat plastics break

Excessive wind noise and whistle from both side view mirrors

    Something rattling in driver's backrest

    Seat track covers falling off

Turbos catch fire and must be replaced every 150-250k, according to Toyota

Fluctuating battery voltage causing stalls or failure to start

    Fuel tank recall

    Engine failures

    Premature fuel pump failures

Cheap caps on end of rear bumper come off in car washes

    Terrible turn radius vs. Gen2/2.5

Smaller cab on outside and inside vs. Gen2/2.5, even with CrewMax

    Smaller windows than Gen2/2.5

    Windshields not installed straight

Cheesy fake engine sounds pushed thru the radio

Cost MUCH more than a low mileage Gen2/2.5 with a Magnuson supercharger installed, which goes faster and pulls better than anything that can be done with a v6

Cracking and peeling of the spray in bedliner

The panoramic roof will leak just like they do on exotic European vehicles0

When the tank is 3/4 full and park on an incline, the gas gauge incorrectly resets itself to full

    Door windows rattle

    Rear window rattling when down

    Rattle coming from headliner

    Center console rattles and creaks

Passenger knee trim pops out and has to be replaced

Door card/interior panels pull off too easily

Seats cracking in the 1st year

Seals on all windows and doors wear out quickly

Blinding glare of hood due to angle

    Heater not blowing hard enough

    AC not blowing hard enough

Tailgates falling off in owners hands, resulting in damage to the tailgate and possible injury to the owner

Worse MPG than Gen2/2.5 because the engine is working harder, particularly when pulling a trailer uphill"

    Nitrogen filled tires!

Good news is you only need 8 more posts before you can list it in the BST thread! So far my '23 SR5 has been perfect - waiting on the fuel leak hazard fix - but none the less it does everything I expected and wanted. Less Bells and Whistles = less issues IMO.

Yeah. My 2023 Tundra has 3,500 miles. Most of the same issues. A few you didn't mention.

I drive my 2005 4Runner to work - it seems to be more reliable, better fuel mileage (V8 n/a), less wind noise.

We have both a 22 Tundra and a new LC. My Tundra has been fantastic and just fun to drive. The LC is sporty, stylish (IMO), and my wife drives it two miles a day back and forth to work on pavement but the smile on her face is priceless.:)

Tell us more about that LC...I am thinking of trading my Tacoma for one once availability is better.

Same with my late 2022 SR5.

The turning radius is bigger than my previous rig. But not totally out of line with the other full sizes I have owned

If you're planning to keep it a while you better plan for extra oil changes to keep from building up too much moisture from such short trips.

The LC is phenomenal. It’s just built different and you can tell.
Over 1200 miles and I’m averaging 24.8-25.1 MPG

Better hope the LC doesn't have the same transmission as the new Tacoma.

    Lots of issues being reported.

Add a driver's side seat making some weird noise every time I get out of the truck.

    Still a great truck.

Out of all of these only 1 of them is a problem for me and is only a "slight complaint". My 2024 SR5 4WD has been solid for almost 1 year now, built and purchased 9/23. I do wish the AC fan would blow out more air. The fan is undersized for the purpose. A dual fan of the same size would likely work well.

I did notice that the way the A/C fan works is much different than my Gen 1 tundra (I don't know how the Gen 2's worked but I'm guessing the same way). On a Gen 3 when the A/C is set to Auto the fans won't start blowing out air until it is cool air. Previous Gen's would start blowing out massive amounts of hot air as soon as you turn them on. It gives the impression of the A/C being weak but in reality the A/C is being smart. Why do you want a bunch of HOT air blown around when you crank the vehicle on a hot day?

It seems like the higher trims do have more issues in general but then that's because there are more things to possibly break. My non-existant parking assist sensors have no way of failing. ;-)

These seem like pretty minor complaints to me. So the truck has never left you stranded somewhere and you're complaining about squeaks?
Toyota will fix the minor stuff that's gone wrong. Perfection is the enemy of the good.

I am very pleased with my MPG average!!!! There, it's added to the thread! Current miles on vehicle: 5852; total gas used: 293.8. Overall mpg: 19.92. Combination of city/highway/interstate driving. High of 24.3 mpg for 243 miles (interstate); low of 16.00 mpg for 272 miles (city, during break-in, less than 600 miles on vehicle. Essentially, it averages approx 2 mpg less than the 2024 Chevy Traverse we traded for it; we're very pleased!

I have had no problem with my seat so far, but have been aware of the issue early on and I put most of my weight on the side step when getting in and out of the truck.

I freakin love my truck…if I had go pick it apart, sometimes I get loud wind noise/whistle from drivers side mirror, sometimes I get some tapping from the speaker right above the drivers head, sometimes I notice the hood flexing a little. To me it’s all pretty minor stuff that I could fix if I really wanted. The user interface, like auto side step, bed camera, front camera, bed lights, speed changing wipers, radio that connects to my phone no problem etc etc…It’s amazing, I really love it.

75k…plus tax? Oof, So 80k for a truck based on a limited? I think that’s what you’re sore about

    Mine has it's issues.

However, I have the 10 year 125k mile warranty. I'll drive it for 8 or 9 years and then move on to something else.
