Mine is currently in the shop to be diagnosed for same noise. Have they made a decision for yours yet?

I am going to take it to the dealer tomorrow. Did the service advisor hear the noise ?

He did, the techs did too. They have sent the videos I gave them to corporate and they opened a case. Corporate is going to have them check the trans fluid and use a stethoscope to pinpoint the noise as I type this response. Did they decide to replace your transmission or is that decision to be determined tomorrow? Also, my noise only occurs in park and neutral at full operating temperature. It is dead quiet when in drive or reverse. Yours similar? Thanks!

Unfortunately, no. We had a pretty decent winter storm down here this week and the service department was closed pretty much all week. Should know something next week.

Still waiting to hear on mine unfortunately. Ice storm down here set us back a week. However it appears from my research that a ticking noise from the hybrid equipped tundra’s transmission seems to be declared as normal, granted it is present in all gears. I’m assuming mine is a clutch pack clearance issue as it is only present in park and neutral, also non-hybrid. Best of luck to you!

I have a 24 Limited that I picked up on Thursday. Didnt hear any noise during the test drive, drove down to San Diego the next morning and park in the parking structure and I hear the same noise you guys are having. Only seem to hear it in park though.

Going to take it back to the dealer next week

Same thing for me. Never heard it on test drive, drove an hour and half home and boom. Only does it in park and neutral.

Same here. 2024 Limited 4x4 with 3500 miles. Picked it up at end of November, began to hear it around early January up against walls. Nothing else seems to be wrong but you guys all have me worried as mine is 3 ticks every 3-5 seconds in Drive. I can't hear it in park at home.

    Update:

took my truck to Toyota today. He said these are just relays whatever that means and it’s not a transmission issue. It’s 3 clicks every 4 seconds

    Original post:

2024 platinum owner here with 450 miles. Noticed mine makes the same noise as the video posted in post #1. Mine only happens when my car is in drive and moving slowly or with my foot on the break. I can hear it loudly when I’m in the garage or a drive thru. It’s very very faint if there isn’t a wall for the sound to bounce off of.

Any latest updates from you guys? Has this been determined to be normal? Really hoping I don’t have an $80k truck with a transmission issue.

Hello Everyone, Just wanted to post that I have the same problem. New Truck…Ticks inconsistent and louder in Park and more consistent but quieter in drive. Neutral and reverse nothing. I mentioned to the dealer a few times already. The main tech heard it and took video and said he would look into it and that it sounds a little excessive. The service manager heard it another time and said he would get back to me. I haven’t heard anything from either. I will probably go back and demand that they actually put it in their system so I have documentation and also so I can get some type of answer. Besides this I love the truck!

My 22 platinum hybrid did this all the time in drive and park at idle. I put 60k on it before my 24 platinum Hybrid came in, does the same thing. Pretty annoying on a 95k truck..

Do you have a video of yours? There are some with the tick every three to five seconds and others with a really loud constant tick. I haven’t heard of them replacing any with the three to five seconds one.

yes, I have a video. I’ll try to post it later today. I have the three tick thing as well but that’s not what I’m talking about. It’s almost like a grinding sound inside the transmission.

I have a 24’ Platinum with 700 miles on it. Just noticed this same clicking/ticking noise. Will be calling the dealer tomorrow. I feel like it’s a little sluggish going from a stop, and then the shift from 1st to 2nd seems a bit harsh at times. I will post what the dealer says.

Any updates on this? I have a 2022 Toyota Tundra iMax Platinum and I've had this noise since I bought the truck new.

Toyota first said that it's normal and wasn't going to do anything about it and after pressing the dealership they agreed to work on it. They dropped the transmission (This was in 2023 at some point) and replaced a part and the noise did seem to be quieter for a time but it's now just as loud as it ever has been. At the time the dealership made it seem like something that was documented by Toyota and normal. If I heard this noise coming from somebody else's truck I would assume that there was something broken on it or that it was neglected in some way. With this being the only vehicle that I have ever heard with a noise like this, it seems more like this is something that is fixable but not easily and they're waiting to see how much of an impact it has on functionality over the long-term before they swallow a hard pill. I would have figured it would have been something they would have ironed out though in manufacturing and I'm surprised that the 2023 and 2024s have it as well.

The ticking sound on mine is the more constant ticking noise that is most prominent when he engine is warm and the truck is in drive with my foot on the brake. I'll post a video and upload what the dealership did.

I'm going to schedule another visit to Toyota.

There are two kinds of ticking that I’ve seen. One that is every couple of seconds (mine has) and the constant one. I’ve heard the constant one is an issue and usually the transmission is replaced. The every couple seconds is deemed normal.

Just wanted to add that my '22 does this (the 3 ticks in the original post). Just noticed it in a drive through a couple of days ago. I assumed it was some sort of relay, like a fuel pump or something. That's what it sounded like to me since it was happening in a regular interval.

I noticed that it only does it after the truck has warmed up a bit. On a cold start, I do not hear it. I also only hear the tick (different variations) in either drive or park.

I have the same ticking sound when going through the drive through, Toyota said stop going through the drive through! In all seriousness, I bet it is a normal sound of a relay or pump or similar.

After about 7 hours at the dealer, they attribute this to the fuel pump. I have to say, they were extremely thorough in diagnostics, and they also grabbed a few other Tundras as well and all did this "tick." Guess I'll enjoy the truck and see what happens.
