I recently installed Nitto Ridge Grappler 285x75x18 tires on my stock wheels along with Bilstein 5100 shocks on the front for leveling and 1" spacers to eliminate rub (with minor plastic trimming). I achieved the look I was hoping for but the ride on the spacers is not great (shaking at highway speeds).

I'm now shopping for new wheels to accommodate the existing tires and looking for recommendations on size . Any help would be appreciated!

How sure are you that the shaking is the spacers and not the tire balance? I have never experienced ride issues from spacers, but have fought shaking/balance on nearly every tire on my Tundra... including my Ridge Grapplers.

Yeah, as stated above it shouldn't be the spacers if they are properly installed.

The tires were balanced when installed and the installer said he sees issues with spacers often. I'm also just looking to get away form the spacers altogether and put some new wheels on the truck.

Valid, just pointing out that most folks don't seem to have issues when they run spacers. Would hate for you to buy tires, pay to have things swapped, and then still have the shaking.

18x9" wheel with +12 - +25 (or +30 if available) will give you the same look/position and eliminate the need for spacers. The 9" wheel will "thicken" the overall look of the tire vs stock wheel (18x8) which may improve your perception of the look you like.

I've seen a few people on here use the TRD Off-Road OE (18") wheel and pair it with the 285/75/18 and have no issues other than removing the front flaps with an ~2in front lift. No other changes and no spaces required.

Here is a great tool for understanding offsets. In your case, the +60 wheels and 1 inch spacer is about the same as a +35 offset wheel.

On your shimmy, the wheel spacers you used are hub centric? The need to be. Also when changing wheel offset, you typically need to get an alignment. Alignment being off or improper wheel balance is usually the cause of the shimmys.

Shouldn’t even need spacers for that combo. Also, the wheel balancer dude will always blame the spacers. Spacers might amplify an unbalanced wheel, but won’t cause it if properly installed.

Sounds right. At one point they blamed my steering column. Ultimately it was just wheel balance, but I had to go somewhere else to get it fixed.

Thanks for all the help. The OEM wheels are 18x8 60/6.86" and I'm running a 1" spacer. I think I want to go to a 18/9 25/6" wheel without the spacer. If my thinking is correct, the decrease in backspacing will push the tire out more, correct?

The offset and tire width determines the poke. Don’t even look at backspacing, it’ll just confuse you. Your 1” spacer is 25mm, so (60-25) essentially makes the stock wheel/spacer combo a +35 offset. Remember, negative offset pushes the wheel outward. If you get a +25 wheel, it’ll poke out 10mm more than your current setup.

Thanks Joon! Just when I figured out offset I went down the backspace rabbit hole and yes, it started shorting my brain circuits. Now to shop for some wheels. Looking at bronze options. I like the "bullet hole" wheel design like the Ray 10 model from Stealth Custom Series. Any suggestions out there?
