Heard my IPT rebuilt transmission came in to the shop finally and now waiting to get the rig back this week. Driving NA vehicles is getting old quick.

 

Was going to ask if it came in when you posted in the sdhq traction bars thread.
Will be a good combo putting the power down!

 

Traction bars came today haha! That box was surprisingly heavy, seems like installing the SDHQ bars should be pretty quick. I also have the caltracs box unopened and will likely sell that, just isn’t the right for my application.

retorque your u-joint bolts a few days after you install them.

Thanks sir! What pins you guys running? Not a fan of the old school pins, seen the newer recessed latches but looks like I'd need to drill some pretty big holes. Wonder if anyone has a hidden strap to lock it down without pins?

 

Ours must have been assembled the same week. I got my mitts on mine this past Wednesday. I finally found someone who's actually eager to install it. I'm going to have it AAA'd over to their shop tomorrow. They'll start on it Thursday and told me that I should be able to drive it home Friday.

I may have to. Was hoping it would have underside vent covers but it doesn't. I'll save my old shitty dented to shit one for swaps.

 

As @reywcms suggested you may be able to epoxy some nutserts on the underside. That way you can bolt in either aluminum or plastic plate to divert water forward or use a weather seal around it. Depends how it's setup underneath...

 

Good point on the nutserts....that would work great with some Lexan sheets cut to fit. May be my weekend project now thanks for the suggestion

 

Been looking at 5.7 Land Cruisers to supercharge, what’s the general vibe on the AE80F 8spd tranny the 2015-2021 models have? Does that tend to fail around the 600hp mark like the tundras. Has anyone ever heard of a built transmission for one? Otherwise looks like the best bet is to stay 2007-2014 Land Cruiser range since it shares the AB60F. Nice side benefit with Sequoias/Land Cruisers is the built in “awd” with the torsion center.

 

The 8 speed is robust and better than the 6spd...extra cool with awd too...no limits have been hit yet on that transmission...

 

I can't remember off the top of my head what year @Land Bruiser's LC is to know if it has the 8spd and to ask him if he's made inquires as to it's durability. Another knowledge source might be to reach out to IPT transmissions.

 

Oh, looks like his is a 2018 Lexus. I only looked at Wikipedia and it's not indicating what transmission it's equipped with, at least not with a cursory glance.

Looks like getting the tune / calibration files from Magnuson take longer than the install The dealership put the 2650 in one day and now they're waiting on the good stuff from Magnuson

 

You can probably get a tune from @snivilous faster lol. That tunes crap your going to be begging to retune that truck after 100 miles.

 

Contact OTT or YotaWerx and they'll send you a tune ASAP and you won't have to buy any extra hardware. I'd do it myself but I don't have access to the stock device Magnuson includes but they do.

 

This is the initial SC install done by a Toyota dealership so for the sake of the record and warranty I will follow proper protocol to register the SC with Magnuson and get their files. After that I already spoke with YotaWerx people and I will upgrade to their tune down the road. Baby steps
