What are the major differences between 2 gen and 2.5 gen that originally got it the 3rd gen moniker? I see some cosmetic differences, but what else sets them apart enough for both not to simply be 2nd gen? Serious question as I am not very familiar with the 2007-2021.

 

That makes sense. As long it was more than just cosmetics, otherwise 2000-2002 would be gen 1, and 2003-2006 would be gen 1.5.

 

Not sure I'd call it a new body style.... more of a few minor tweaks here and there to try and add character to the more squared off lines

I'm going to recuse myself from this poll due to the fact that I loved my 1st Gen, currently happily own a 3rd Gen and would also like to add a 2.5 Gen to the stable.

However, I wish to table a motion that anyone who owns a Ford or a Dodge is not allowed to vote on this.

Dakota's were an outlier. I think my Frontier seems to be close to the same size as my 75 F-150 I bought new, except that was under $5K. The new gen Frontier length was extended almost 7"s.

This thread gives me the big sad. First, Toyota takes away the 3rd Gen designation that we all knew was wrong but used colloquially anyway for 7 years. Then you Best Gen bastrds take Turd Gen away from us too. Way to kick us while we’re down.
