Mike Sweers activated the the Gen 3 Self Destruct mode via Drive Connect.

 

Now that is pretty funny.

 

Mike hasn't been in charge of Tundra for over a year now.

I don't find Ryan's engine failing funny, but it is ironic. Before he got banned the second time, he downplayed the engine failure risk, and repeatedly said he wasn't concerned about his engine in the least. I wonder if this will speed up his timeline for tearing down and inspecting the new Tundra engine he purchased.

I wish he was still around here, but I understand why the mods had to ban him.

 

and to be fair, that was not Mikes call, he got overruled by legal.

hes a truck guy, has a pretty bad ass gen 2.5 lifted, etc.

Doesnt look like mine is in the mail today, definitely let us know if yours includes the remedy. Apparently Toyota customer service isnt tracking there's a remedy available or the press release stating such

 

The real question is which will be the slowest, the notification sent via USPS or the update in the APP? My bet is that USPS beats the app. In fact, I am certain of that now since I just checked my USPS preview e-mail and my notice is coming today. Pretty sad commentary on Toyota digital services.

the new engineer talked about this in a video, they went back after the tundra and lobbied harder, and finally won over.

He is now the Chief Engineer for all Toyota Body on Frame vehicles.

He is currently in Japan.

 

Considering that date is when they revised their statement for the recall, curious if theres more to it that wasnt initially released to the public.

 

Yea you would think it would hit the app first or get published somewhere considering they dropped it in the press release update and its been picked up by all the news and car websites at this point. I would guess mine will be here tomorrow, im on the east coast so it might take another day.
