$35K is just a giant pile of cash for truck motor. I get it, but it's insane. California is driving this insane train.

Would be nice to see a manufacturer or two just say "Sod it, we don't need to wreck the whole product line for all our customers just to satisfy Gavin Newsom. California, no more trucks for you!" That's shrinking market anyhow.

Partial Engine Assembly is a Toyota Long Block. Ask me how I know. They are currently being used for 2024s that have failures. I've seen them in person.

New engines are not just parts costs but include an overhead burden for design, development, testing and initial tooling. Startup costs to produce a new engine family are not cheap. A crate engine from 20 year old design using available tooling is more just materials, labor and profit costs. The total cost of anything produced long enough tends to be much cheaper in later production runs

He got two cease and desists from Toyota due to posting things on here. Then got snipped here and left FB for a while. Now he just popped back up on FB posting things.

He is working on updating the engine failure google doc today. Said there will be more on there after a bit.

Interesting. I never saw any of his posts. Why do you think Toyota wanted him gone?

in some ways, if your keeping the truck, getting a full brand new motor after 48K miles is kinda nice, lol.

It's just funny that a fella that basically poo pooed on people commenting on the engine failures, down playing them while documenting and sharing info they were not supposed to, to the extent that lawyers had to get involved is now having a hard time with said corporation.

You can join the 2022+ Tundra Facebook group and link to it. I am not sharing a link that was already deleted here for various reasons. I enjoy reading the back and forth here on slow work days too much.
