Has anyone considered how this recall affects those that purchased an extended warranty? I bought one for peace of mind and feeling glad I did with all these issues. However, would they still honor the warranty on an engine that was replaced as part of the recall?

I don't see how they wouldn't , it should still be good. It not like when you get anything done under warranty they take away the warranty.

my 16 tundra shit out, needed new fuel pump, ecu, etc, it was pricey, but my extended paid it all out and the warranty continued on

Oh I agree, MSRP vs what it actually costs them is stupid. When looking at MSRP alone and shop labor + rentals, Toyota will have paid more into my truck than I bought it for by the time they fix everything -___-

Has anyone called in yet that had Extended Warranty with engine replacement out of the 3 year base too see if Toyota will be doing anything for us?

That’s just part of the part - before heads, turbos, etc.

I think another member was quoted $32K for parts and labor to replace the engine. Does that sound plausible?

That’s in the range I’ve seen. $27k-$35k depending on if they do turbos etc.

It’s 2024. I don’t think you can get a new engine from any major manufacturer for under $20k.

We (Team 140) paid $8k for just a block on the last engine we built.

    Agreed 100%

I’m so tired of hearing how Toyota is “doing the right thing.” The right would be to fix the issue for everyone.

Don’t hold your breath. Toyota has not said anything to give us a reason to believe that.

I understand that non-hybrids should have priority in getting the replacement engine, it’s a safety issue. However, if Toyota plans on getting to the hybrids eventually then they should say that. Anything reasonable would satisfy most hybrid owners. They could literally say what you said, we will get to hybrids eventually. Or something like phase 1 we will address non-hybrids, phase 2 we will add hybrids to the recall.

Hybrid owners better hope they are under warranty when their engine fails.

That's the long block pricing, so heads, cams, timing chains, etc are included in that pricing.

Not sure if anyone here would know, but I’m planning to get my engine replaced per the recall. I have a C4 fabs front bumper on. Anybody know if that would need to come off for when they do the engine swap?

Whatever this forum told me to do
    well, sort of.

see, if you go to replace the 7.3 gas in the Ford, you are obliged to also order the Harrop S/C.

and you are still less than the Toy v6

and you have 800/800 on pump gas.

No it isn’t, long blocks aren’t available for purchase and therefore won’t have a MSRP. That’s the same part they’ve been ordering for short block replacement.

The Toyota has 4x as many cams and is a wayyyy more complex engine.

I was hoping I was going to get a 747 engine for my tundra

if thats the case, then Im going to pass on the big bad ass boat motor @AZBoatHauler is going to install in my 23 tundra when I move out to AZ in a few years.

now I can re-fuel at the airport and blow all these gen 2 guys away, literally.

Whatever this forum told me to do
    question:

would this 747 jet engine require a front grill that's larger and uglier than the present fitment?

    asking for a friend.

Ryan popped back up online today. Said to remember the date June 25, 2024. I assume something to do with our engine/recall. Sounds like we should know more tonight or tomorrow. It was posted in a 2022+ Tundra group. Either way hopefully it’s good news.

So a long block would be more if you assembled all the parts to make one?
