Moved them, and it was a short in the transmission wiring, they had to order the parts, installing tomorrow

Ive got a 24' Tundra Limited im looking to either put the dobs 2/1 or the 3/2 lift on. Can anyone with those set ups share pics? I am trying to run 35x12.5x18 (or17) wheel set up. I'm thinking for that reason I may have to go 3/2 lift if i want No rubbing. Can anyone confirm that if they have similar wheel set up too? Moved up from a tacoma so lifting system is a little different for me

I've had customers go with a 2/1" and still run 35's. Adding extra lift doesn't make extra room in the fenders, it just changes the position of the body to the wheel at ride height.

Thanks for the reply. I am looking at possibly preloading the front to 2.5" and then 1" in the rear. Do you know if I would need new cv axels and UCAs at that point? I know once you get to 3" in the front you have to do CVs and UCAs. I just use it for daily driving not hard offroading. Trying to figure out everything I would need

The different TRD CV axles are recommended at 2.5" of lift and higher. The basic ones just don't have great articulation. If you do 2/1" you can avoid it and the other parts as well.

What height did you set your lift at? I'm contemplating this vs TRD pro takeoffs. I think I want to keep it under 2", but not sure if I should spend the extra to have more wiggle room (over the pro coilovers)...

Also, are those the HD dobinsons rear coils?

    Few Qs:
    1) How hard is the lift to install compared to a 5th gen 4Runner? From what I'm seeing, this should actually be easier given there's more room to work (besides the fact that there's more weight involved here). With the 4Runner, some steps were a real PITA due to that. I did it alone and if I had to guess took 8-10 hours, really taking my time.
    2) if I want things level, should I go 3/2 or 3/1 for Dobinson's IMS? Wondering if I could do the 3/1 with a medium load spring in the rear- planning to add a few things back there eventually, like a diamondback HD or possibly a camper shell. I do tow a trailer w/ an atv for hunting as well.
    3) For a Dobinson's IMS 3/2 or 3/1 install on a limited non-OR, 6.5' bed 4x4, do I need anything else besides UCAs, extended brake lines, and maybe a panhard bar? Diff drop/different axles maybe?

Yeah, it's pretty much the same process as most Toyota and Lexus SUV's. If you get the coilovers preassembled, it will save a lot of time and hassle.

We break it down on our site really clearly, you need to have a diff drop kit and the TRD axle shafts in order to run 3" of lift. The stock CV's don't have enough movement to handle that lift height and last.

New member here, first post. First let me say thanks to all who have shared knowledge and experience- this community has helped me a ton.

Just wanted to share an experience of my own, in case its useful to someone else.

This week I attempted to have the Eibach Pro Truck kit installed on my 24 SR5 TRD OR by a local off road shop. This is a reputable shop, where the local Toyota Dealer sends trucks to have the TRD lift kit installed.

I say "attempted" because they called me today after spending almost 2 full days on it. Apparently once installed, the front will not compress....at all, and they can't align it. I made some calls to Eibach, and they were quite responsive and seemed genuinely concerned. They requested pics of the install to verify part numbers, ran it up to their engineering team, and got on a conf call with the shop to try and figure it out, but no answers. The shop is so frustrated they said they removing the lift kit, replacing the stock parts, and want to wash their hands of it. They are charging me nothing for the effort.

Bottom line, I'm getting parts back on Monday, and Eibach wants them to inspect and test. They say that this is the first such report they have. Eibach is refunding my purchase cost even though I bought them from one of their retailers, and not directly from them. Impressive service!!

One additional detail: The Eibach Pro Truck kit is designed to be used with stock UCAs, as the design team confirmed today, but because the lift will be more than 2.5" I wanted to swap the UCA's. I bought a set of OEM TRD UCA's which the shop installed along with the kit. I also had an Icon sway bar drop kit installed.

Not sure what conclusion I have but wonder if the combination of the TRD UCA's and the Eibach coilovers just don't play well together. Im not much of a mechanic, but to me this doesn't seem like a defective product issue. I expect there is going to be a really simple thing that the shop overlooked, like the UCAs.
I'm positive that Eibach really wants to make sure they putting out quality gear, and that their customers are happy.

If you have ideas, I'm grateful to hear them.

My lift is set around 3". I adjusted the preload on the front to account for the bumper/winch weight.

Is HD a thing for Dobinson springs? Their website doesn't mention it. The C59-843V spring I used is setup for 2" of lift with a 220-440 lb load. With my camper shell, rear bumper, and SHW drawer system, I have a slight rake. When I'm towing my boat, it's perfectly flat.

Unless you are getting an absolutely crazy deal on the pro takeoffs, I'd be going a different route.

There are 6 rear different spring options, and the "HD" ones would be for the heavy loads. They and most Aussie brands don't use the term HD since everything they make is HD, but load is the most important thing.

I've had people buy extra heavy duty rear springs before with absolutely zero weight on the truck, and then they wonder why it rides to tall and rough.

Correct, HD isn't a thing.

I did the math based on my setup and it's pretty much spot on. I could possibly step up to the 550-770 springs, but it rides fantastic.

My previous vehicle was a 2009 Tacoma with Old Man Emu suspension and Dakar rear leaf springs. It felt like a log wagon.

Was using the term in a non-formal sense - "HD" as in their highest spring rate option.:notsure:

Looks like you went with the middle rate option. Thanks for the info.

Here's a question for the TRD Pro guys (and overall you with more experience).

I have a unique setup here... SR5 with the auto leveling rear bags.. I have a set of TRD Pro take offs. However, I am looking at my options to get a little more lift to fit 37s. I have been looking at this kit here but says does not fit the TRD Pro models (probably because of the rear bags)... anyone have any idea if the front spacer lift would work on a TRD Pro Fox coilover? Other suggestions welcomed too but looking for stuff that is not Westcott right now. might consider them later.

    https://www.readylift.com/2-sst-lift-kit-2022-2024-toyota-tundra-rear-air-2wd-4wd.html

Also- the sell just the front spacers separately and still says not for the TRD Pros.. I might call tomorrow and see why..

Question for the westcott guys - I have the AVS/hybrid, so I will end up with 2" front lift & 7/8" rear lift. To keep full articulation:

    (1) Will I need extended brake lines?
    (2) Will I need the TRD CV joints?
    (3) Will I need bump stops?

    Thanks!

On the TRD off road package if I go over 2.5" in front would I still need UCA's? thinking of doing 3" in front and one inch in rear with the trd lift shocks

Yes you'll want to add UCA's so you get a proper alignment

I've been off the forums for awhile, but happy to report that the custom accutuned suspension is doing very well. The adjustability is amazing and the new PES rides better than my gen 2 Factory Race series.

This thing can go fast and it handles the g-outs really well. Rides well without airing down much too.

There is a lot of information to take in here. As i find an answer to one question it leaves me with 2 more lol
My previous 2.5 gen Tundra had the Bilstein's 5100 (top setting if i remember correctly) I dropped down to a 17" icon wheel and fit a 33" tire (close to it)
that was my plan for this but Bilstein doesn't seem to be an option.
I have a 24' rwd sr5. Eibach has been recommended as a close alternative. Pro Truck coilover $905 or Pro Truck- lift stage 2 $1388. not sure if i would also need UCAs? Icon and dobbins seem to be the preferred route here by many but also seem more expensive.
    95% pavement driving. probably 17" or 18" with 33's-35s .
are there any recommended options in that price range.

You’ll definitely need extended brake lines which you can buy from yotamafia, technically don’t need upgraded CVs till 3” or more but still a really good idea to prevent future headaches, and you’ll also need new bump stops you can find those on various different websites. Hope this helps, happy trails!

Does anyone know where to find shock travel lengths, such as extended length and compressed length? Understanding baselines for the Toyota branded shocks would be a helpful tool in understanding travel and performance outside of lift height.

It would be great to know how many of the shocks compare to stock shocks of the TRD OR, TRD 3” lift, TDR Pro, etc.

It is extremely difficult to find any data on this, even from aftermarket manufacturers. RC Vertex publish the following for their 3” lift:
    • Extended Length: 22.24in
    • Collapsed Length: 16.54in
They also publish extended and collapsed length of their 2”, which is slightly different.

Most other vendors are only stating “extended” travel, which is impossible to quantify.

It's on my short list after talking the there marketing VP at the Overland Adventure Summit in June. Last Line of Defense on Youtube has the FCP on his new tundra with some info on it. Not exactly the answer you were looking for but it is new enough there isn't a ton out there yet. Tinker Adventures has a video talking about Foam Cell Pro in general also.
