Hello. We have a 21+ Sienna and I use to have a Prius and never was able to get a straight answer on this. They have a Charge gauge that is used during regen braking. But it's not clear on the gauge how much is being used during regen. My assumption is if you let off the brake, you are using more regen braking, indicated by the needle not moving much past the line between ECO and CHG. The harder you press the brake, the deep the needle moves towards the bottom of the gauge. My though is you are not recovering the regen benefit by pressing the brake harder as you are using the friction brakes more?

My thinking of how a normal gauge works, would prove that theory correct?

Does it slow you down rapidly without hitting the brakes, like a Tesla?

Probably depends on programming but I think you're on the right track though, the vehicle's inertia has to be the source for the motor to charge the battery

I haven't ridden in a Tesla to feel the one pedal drive, but it does coast and you can feel the resistance without applying the brake.
