Why are there so many non 3rd Gen Tundra owners in the 3rd Gen sections?....

I was just curious why as I am scrolling through the threads it seems like the majority of snarky and berating comments are coming from people who have either sold their 3rd gen or never have had one at all. They seem to get a kick out of dunking on 3rd gen owners all the time. I am just trying to figure out why they spend so much time and effort in a section of the forum that does not pertain to them?

I own a 3rd gen and I do not go and read through the other threads for 2nd and 1st gens so ya I would actually like to know the thought process behind it. Otherwise I would not have asked.

It's because the 1st and 2nd Gen forums are about as exciting as watching paint dry.

If you default your settings to see all new posts only, then you see any post made throughout the entire forum that has new comments on it. Nobody is selectively stalking the 3rd gen section.

Secondly….its an open forum. You have the ability to go to any other section and comment on any thing you want.

Thirdly….what 2nd gen owner hurt your feelings?

Right, the 3rd generation Tundra is by far the best Tundra to date. They like trashing them I am guessing because they do not want to pay inflated prices when they first launched. Also most Toyota Tundra owners are addicted to the cheap ole reliable v8 they stuffed into them for 20 years even though it was a dinosaur engine like the tried and true 3 liter v6. As time goes on and the 3rd gens get cheaper in the used market you will see people adopting them, and it won't be as bad.

    That is just my take.

Show me on the doll where the mean 1st/2nd gen member hurt you.

Seriously, why let it bother you? If someone had a bad experience, it's understandable they'd want to vent about it. Will some go overboard? Sure.

If someone is trolling or blindly bashing, does that not say more about them than it does you? Just ignore them.

The rest are probably normal guys/gals who are curuous and/or considering a newer model and looking for info.

Enjoy your truck (no matter which gen) and don't let others get under your skin.

    1) I'm a prospective buyer of another Toyota product that has the same engine. Specifically the Lexus GX 550.
    2) I'm a prospective buyer of the 3rd gen Tundra in future years.
    3) My family looks to me for truck guidance and they are prospective buyers.
    4) My entire professional life, formal education, and passion is related to engines and engine design.

It happens with each new generation on every truck forum. The 2nd gen guys have just had to "pass the torch".

This too. Look at it this way, 15 years from now you'll finally be able to join the 1st and 2nd gen guys and gripe about the 4th gen. :)

I sold my third gen but still enjoy the Tundras forum. This forum is set up very nicely and is also very active, compared to others on the interweb. I am also curious as to what Toyota will be doing with the Tundra situation as someday I may be driving a new Tundra again. Not all of us non-owners are haters or trolls.

What he said. I had a 3rd gen Tacoma and when that was the current generation people constantly talked about how bad it was or how poorly Toyota quality had dropped off. Now go into the 4th gen Tacoma section and it’s 3rd gen owners saying “turbo motor bad, glad I got the last of its kind. Only NA motors for me”. Once the 4th gen tundra comes out it will be the same thing. It’s just the natural cycle of Toyota owners. Don’t let it bother you and if you see the same people spewing the same garbage just mute them.

Might be onto something there. Do a gen refresh sooner than later to reset the Tundra for Toyota.

It's kind of funny, I've had the impulse to go into 2nd and 1st gen threads where the OP is having some sort of problem and tell them they should of bought a 3rd gen. I've resisted the urge because I remember I'm better than them.

But, to answer the thread question...
