Hub bore on a second Gen is bigger still. But yeah I think you're right about the studs being the same.

I mean the second gens pretty much were dodges anyways. Both 5.7L, similar lines. I can't tell you how many times I saw a second gen on the road and thought it was a dodge in until I got closer. :D
Dodges are usually on the side of the road, to be fair.
    Dodge, Ford, what's the difference?

And the 1GT look like F150s, so we've come full circle now, eh?

Well, it's tomorrow. Fuck it. Buddy picked me up at 7am at my house. We roll out to pick our other buddy up in a town on the way about an hour away. We grab him the make it to CO springs no problem because we're in a 2nd gen. Roll in about 12:30 CO time. We go for a test drive and everything is fine. Me and the seller go in and we make a wire transfer. Lady tells me should take about 5 minutes after I get a verification phone call. Nah, after 20 minutes I call my bank to make sure. They used the wrong routing number. We re-send and wait. And wait. And wait. We both say fuck it, let's regroup in a half hour or so.

Me and the boys make our way to in and out a few blocks away as me and buddy #1 have never had it. As soon as we get in the parking lot seller texts me funds went through. By this time it's 3:15 TX time. We haul ass back and I get notarized paperwork and take possession.

The TX boys head back and I buy lunch for the crue. 3 double doubles animal style, fries, and a drink. Good shit. Fries were ass though. Whataburger has them in spades on fries. Burger was a 3/4 over Whataburger.

Anyways, we hop back on I-25 and hit traffic. Fucking figures. It let's up and I get an opening so I open up the taps. Dropped into 3rd at about 55 and plant it. It spools up and then face plants around 5k. I have no throttle. None. I pull over and pop the hood. Engine is spinning at 2k rpm making beautiful SC noises. I kill it and restart it. All is well. So we continue on.

Owner said that the AC squealed, and would smell like burnt rubber. Said it may need another tensioner. I took that warning to mean, "run the AC and the belt will break". So I'm windows down no AC the whole way home. In July. We hit traffic again outside of Pueblo. Stop and go. In a 400hp 6spd. In 95° weather. I was burning up. Traffic cleared and we made it to some town and stopped so I could hydrate. Bought a 24pk of water and immediately downed one. My fucking back was soaked. No other sweat though since I'm a freak and don't sweat much. So gtg from then on.

We power through Trinidad, and down to Raton, where we planned to stop for a fuel/pee break. I missed the exit so we catch the next one and flip a bitch. I make the 90 in first, floor it, catch 2nd for a bit, then let off. We get back on the highway to the next exit. As I'm coasting down clutch in and on the brakes, the steering gets heavy. Car died. I restart it while coasting and it fires right up. Weird, but ok. When we pull into the station my idle is fucked up. It jumps from 500 to 1k, down to 500 up to 1k, 500, 1k, 500, 1k. Well fuck. We gas up and I tell the homies I'm headed home at more than the posted speed limit. Raton is about 3:15 from home and it's 7:15.

I continue on at about 85 all the way to Dalhart. I see(and hear) a nice camaro ss on the out skirts of town. I end up in front of him for the last light in town which we just made. I pownshift to 3rd and stomp it. It fucking pulls then faceplants against at around 5k. I clutch in and restart the car. Do a 3rd gear pull again, faceplants again. No throttle input. Wtf? SS turns off, I gave a wave, and they're both smiling.

I'm an hour out now and everything is fine, so long as I don't romp on it in 3rd or 4th. I get to town at about 10 and come into downtown. Should be mostly dead at 10 on a friday, right? Fuck no. Apparently there was a sod poodles game tonight and it just let out. So my car idling all fucking weird had to catch 5 outta 13 lights downtown. If I just barely touch the gas it evens out at about 900 rpm. Anyways, I solider on to the c u next Tuesdays house to get the boy.

He's ready to go when I get there, and middle child comes out too, she says "dad, your car sounds like it's about to die". Typical female. I informed her about it's supercharged nature and lack of idle control. She went full female teenager and proceeded to tell me what a shit car it was. Boy hopped right in and was ready to go. He liked it right away.

So leaving the exs neighborhood we turn onto a road with a 60mph limit. I say, are you ready boy? He says yeah! I get the car mostly straight and stomp on it at about 3k rpm. Rap it out fine. Bang second and rap it out. Faceplants at around 5k. No throttle control. Restart car. Make my way home and as I run down the highway I try the AC. Works good, but when I got off to loop back around sweet fucking Jesus, that's not a squeal, it howled and made the PS all fucky wucky. Turned it off immediately.

So we get back onto the access road to my house and I jump on it. Faceplants in 2nd again. Restart car. Car won't restart. Try again. Car won't restart. 3rd time. 4th time. Car started. Stop. Doing. Dumb. Shit. Pull up to house. Car is home. I'm home. We all live to fight another day.

So, initial take away is this car is quick. I'm estimating if it wouldn't shut off, about a mid to high 12 in the 1/4. 400hp, roughly 4000lb weight. If I hadn't rung it out, it never would've lost throttle input. Banging gears in a SCd 6 spd though? Fucking priceless. The blower noises and blow-off valve are fucking giggle inducing. I think I made the right choice.

Oh, and I only got pulled over once. Apparently when you private sell a vehicle in CO you keep the plates. So I drove with no plates and had to pass a cop that slowed down to pull me over between Pueblo and Trinidad. All was good though and he admired the car.

Ugh. I'm dead ass tired though. That was a 7am to 1030pm (almost) constant drive. I was up at 5am and I'm about to go to bed now at 130am.

Anyways, I didn't grab many pics for you heathens, but here's a few.

I've got an old Radio Shack unit w/the same limitations; which is fine for tuning/adjusting surround sound and such in a home theater, but....

I've heard a few folks say there are apps out that can be used w/a smart phone/ipad, etc. that are fairly accurate and top in in the 160db range :notsure:

Here's a professional grade unit that is engineered for measuring DBs at a gun range... Not sure what the complete cost is, but you should be able to play around w/it a bit...

So does this car have a stand alone ECU you can toy with to get it all straightened out?

    fix it again, tony.

jokes aside, thats badass. I broke a throttle cable & shift cable when i first got my nova, and the dipshit that installed the mechanical oil pressure gauge didnt use a gromet, so when that rubbed through i had hot oil spray my legs. Dont let the little stuff bring you down. The car is just trying to make sure you're worthy. Get one of those data things so you can see why it does what its doing. Might be something simple. And does the blower use the same belt as the a/c? Might need a stronger tensioner.

    happy for you.

Similar but superior. Shock/coil beats torsion bar suspension any day in my book for comfort.

Not on this one. I might do 2 10s in it. Maybe.

Kinda. It has a Haltech ECU that runs the motor and guages. Factory ECU handles the car.

Thats what the dude was saying. It may need an additional tensioner. I think i need to pull the belt off and check the tensioner on there too. It may be weak.

Yup. This is a tremec magnum. One of a handful of manual crown vics in the country, and possibly the only one where the guages still work.

With that being said, this car has presented a way to put a manual in a Tundra. Grab the trans, xfer case, and pedals from a v6, get a haltech, and boom, manual v8 with functioning guages. It's a little more complicated than that but it's the basic premise. I'm gonna do some research and see what I can find. It's gonna be a future project in a year or two.

While hunting thru FBM today I came across this adv for a Rolls Royce. I'm a little leery as the price seems low for such a classic vehicle. I'm sure the surface rust'll buff out. I figure if I park it in the driveway the neighbor's will be envious. Whatcha think, should I take a chance?

I think you’re mistaking rust for “patina” as it’s a mint Rolls made to look that way.

A little testing this morning. Safe to say that the rig will never see this kind of angle in normal use. I wanted to see the departure angle in the flesh before I made any final decisions on the bed. After seeing it I will keep my bed design equal to or with more departure angle clearance than the stock hitch.
