how many miles do you have?

I wonder if you're over 3/36 if they would at least let you buy the 10/125 if they don't offer it, I know the warranty stuff remains to be seen as this unfolds.

I'm about to clock 30k this weekend.

I don't drive much...22 mile commute, round trip to work. I did buy one of the Platinum plans, don't remember the specific years/miles though.

When I trade in my 3rd gen Tacoma the dealer was on part with what Carmax and Carvana offered. I think it gives a good baseline.
But the dude claiming he’s lost almost half the value in 6 months is bogus for sure. First post and he really made a good one haha

I’m at about 47,500 miles of trouble free driving with a motor that runs smooth as glass. Would be great if I could push this replacement off as long as possible. I know trucks have failed at this or higher mileage but if I can get a new motor in 5 years time, boom! Great success!! I absolutely love this truck and the longer I can drive it, the better!

Best possible outcome for those affected. Toyota must have COMPLETE confidence that the new engines are bullet proof to do this. It very well could have been a manufacturing or design defect with the bearings that has been rectified.

That's nice of Toyota to replace the entire block. As it should. Wish you all good luck and I hope you get some peace now.

On a separate note my 2021 got less miles than your new 2023/24 LOL

    Not true.

Toyota knows how much disgruntled non Gen 3 owners love to winge and whine; so they specifically made sure to ignore their complaints so they still have a reason to draw breath and remain on this mortal plain of existence.

Without the need to complain about Gen 3 Tundras some of them will need a suicide hotline.

I’d assume that if those trucks are under the recall they will be given new engines like anyone else affected under the recall. But I have no confirmation about that and we will need to wait and see what Toyota does.

I share in your frustration about the initial issue with the engine. That's not what we expect of Toyota, which is why I'm on my 3rd Toyota, 2nd Tundra (2022). If I had a 2024 I would keep a close eye on what will happen with engines beyond the range of the current recall.

That being said, don't be captive to the value as it is today...If the engine problems are behind them after their root cause analysis, then worry about the value in 5 years or 10 years. It's not a stock that you're trading or an asset that you're borrowing against!

Ditto 22! I put 240,000 on a 2011 F150 (still going with son in law at over 250k) and decided to get a 22 Tundra Platinum and repeat the experience. I'm at 32k. Zero issues to date. Built 3/22. I run in ECO no issues and get 21mpg on the highway. If we can get new engines with no impact to other truck health, this would be a winner.

Is this a mandate? Will they void the warranty if we don't agree to have it replaced? I'm not sure I trust this to get done effectively.

This seems like the 3rd gens equivalent of the (still ongoing) 1st gen frame recall though much earlier in the life cycle.

My assumption is Toyota spent a few months trying to boil down which engines Bubba was responsible for half ass cleaning to limit their costs. When that proved impossible they had to go with replace them all.

That's got to be like the 7th thread on this topic that's been locked or deleted. I suspect the the admins have a policy regarding that motor which shall not be named....

I have 23 with manufacture date of 31JAN23 but have not received a notice. Are all the notices going out at the same time? I also checked the recall lookup and nothing. I guess it could take a while to get to all 102K.

In the absence of actual new info from Toyota (which finally just dropped), there's only so much speculation and back and forth BS and personal attacks that the mods are willing to allow.

It sure was fun watching people dump a perfectly good truck for a $15k loss right before Toyota announced they will give affected trucks an entire new engine.
Still intentionally ignoring that the recall extends to Japanese-made engines as well, I see. Or is it your position that those pesky Alabama folk infiltrated Toyota's factories in Japan in order to promote the offensive stereotype you're only too happy to keep harping on?

No - Push this off for a while. Drive it another 5 years before you hand over the keys. You're literally driving on a borrowed engine.
