Right, I'd rather loose a tank of gas and not have any damage to my gas tank, or someone prying the fuel door open. Just need to pick better places to park.

Now I've been through Kentucky quite a few times. Live in Texas. The people I know and where they live in Kentucky and where I live in Texas that's grounds to shoot a man I catch you stealing my fucking gas on my property that's going to be some buckshot.

Welp, FedEx finally managed to deliver something not only a day early, but also no damage. Granted, RockTrix was smart and sent all four wheel boxes in one larger box for protection, and that box looks like complete ass, but ... at least it got here.

These are a pound are two heavier than I expected, seems to be cast, bash guard is non-removable, the the tinted clearcoat over the machined wheel is thick although some imperfections (dust flecks here or there), and brighter silver than I expected, but for around $135 per wheel, which is cheaper than most of the steelies I could find, IDGAF. Oh, and I had some Summit Bucks expiring, so I did end up getting 3 more Denso sensors for right around $100, will go pick up at the store tomorrow. Will probably get them mounted and balanced on Tuesday while the kids are in school. I'll need to bust out the caliper and see what the opening is for the caps. Wonder if any OEM Toyota caps would fit in there?

We are gold brothers. I'm just rolling these for a minute to test some shit out, and potentially have one set of wheels for street, another for offroad.

Likely what that'd look like is me putting the Mickeys on these machined gunmetal wheels, and putting the Wildpeak AT3Ws on my gold Methods.

At this rate, I'm probably going to be spending a stupid amount of money on mounting and balancing in the coming month

It's in a continual decline. Nothing like it was in the late 90s when I moved here (the first time). School system is a mess too.

School system is a mess everywhere. I have a handful of local friends that are teachers. Two are rural, in N. GA, one in the 'burbs, and a dozen local to me across 5 schools inside the city. They all agree when asked what the cause is: Screen addiction, combined with social media. The kids have no attention span anymore. They've been programmed to do stupid shit, and defy authority. They've been taught the more obnoxious and different you can make yourself, the better. They've been shown you don't need an education to make money, you just need to be an internet celebrity by doing the kinds of things that will make you go viral, make you click-worthy, make the rest of the internet want to see you. They're also heavily damaged (PTSD) and/or educationally behind from the lapse in education that happened from 2020-2022/23. Kids going into middle school that can't read yet. Like, gnarly misses.

And because of it, teachers - the good teachers who are fed up with parents ignoring it, and parents and administrators and the lawmakers doing nothing about it - have gotten tired of being paid shit wages to deal with this, tired of being villanized, and are dropping out of the industry, retiring early, shifting to higher education where they're paid more, or moving to other industries entirely. One of our friends was teaching middle school at a really nice school. She now works 3 nights a week as a bartender at a club in Midtown that closes at 11pm, and is making 2x-3x what she was teaching @50hr/wk.

A lot of people are politicizing it, blaming it on other shit to fit their narrative. It's unfortunate for the kids, b/c they're not getting the help they need to solve the issues. Need to be cranking down on the toxicity and garbage that's on social media, but the same people politicizing it know their content would get pulled too if they helped do anything. The fact of the matter is, the same garbage that's feckin' up the kids is warping the minds of adults too, doesn't matter which direction you lean on the spectrum. A slow, gnarly brainwash with only a tiny percentage of uber-wealthy/powerful benefitting.

But that said ... Now I've got the pics pulled, what I did to the Tundra today, per the thread title ...

I was eyeballing some wiring scenarios to finish off the stereo, and decided to pull the Depstech snake cam out and look under my intake manifold for any signs of rodent activity. Nesting material, chew marks, poop, the usual you'd expect if any rodent was in there for more than 5 minutes.

I found jack shit. And so now I'm wondering, with some idle irregularity I've noticed the last couple of years from time to time, if I don't have a coil pack that's going down the shitter, and it's periodically causing a knock. Or maybe it just is my bank1 knock sensor is dying a slow death, kicking off a single code once every 11-15 months (3x now). I don't see any evidence of water leaks in here. I know a coil won't typically cause a knocking condition. And if it's a bad sensor, with how intermittent it's tripping, I'll never catch it in the act. But I can confirm: When the code hits, I can jump out of the truck immediately, pop the hood, and there is zero knock happening.

Pics for the hell of it, on the VVTi 2UZ it's a hell of a lot harder to get under the manifold than I thought. Only clear access is on the driver side thanks to the SAI Pump. I was able to scoot in on the passenger side though.

This thing didn't take very good pics.

It's an easily defeated device. I use a screwdriver to wedge the flap open when filling with a gas can.

Diagnosing. P.O. claimed stripped gears. actuator seems to function. If anyone has leads or recs for good used replacements vs complete rebuild, id appreciate it. Im open to regearing both front and rear as well.

Sounds like the opportunity for a gas tank mod. Close off fuel pipe to the gas tank door and a re-route of the pipe to behind the license plate. Who remembers those? Nobody knows under 40 unless they’re familiar with antique cars.

I feel I recently got hosed by Discount Tire. I took in 5 wheels to get dismounted from tires and install new tires on 5 wheels. I paid a little over $300 with one tire disposal. When I questioned why so much. Because their 33's (285). I said technically their 32's but ok. The tech said it usually takes about 45 minutes to mount the tire.

heh heh. Busted out the credit card for some suspension and brake parts. Thanks Rock Auto. 5100s on all 4 corners, moog tie rods. I Almost bought the 6112s but decided against since im not 100% sure what direction im going with the truck. Staying stock just to haul dirt and shit around would be great, but I alsooo kinda want something that will get me in deeper than my Chevy Suburban. Next time i'm feeling spendy I might go for the eibach UCA's and Maxx sway bar links. The 5100 should be fine for a while and an improvement in adjustability over the bils 4600s I have on the burb.

    Sound like you got hosed.
Should be $15-$20 per tire to dismount and I'd expect the same for mount. So $200 max I'd say, before tax.

I just had 4 33" tires swapped to my 4 "new" used steelies and it was $130 for mount and balance on those.

That was discount tire as well
