My dealership had a couple Taco Pros and they're taller than the stock 3rd Gen Tundra.

I was struck by how short the short bed looked. They’ve been amping these trucks up a bit more every generation. Like a dude that gets pumped up but not any taller.

I think it's all related to the EPA stuff. The halftons are all getting lower and air dams due to popularity and the midsizes are getting the lifted look to try and attract the lifestyle buyers into the twin turbo 4 bangers.

For some reason, Toyota lengthened the new Taco's wheelbase even though the truck is not really much longer overall than the previous gen.

This puts a lot less bed behind the rear wheels, which I think makes the bed look a lot shorter.

Likely another EPA choice. MPG requirements are impacted by wheelbase. That's why the small midsize trucks of the past are dead. They had a wheel base similar to something like a Camry or an Accord so they were required to meet the same kind of requirements. Kinda hard to make a truck's aero work to that level. So, they made them bigger to get out of it.

Now you understand why I drink. It’s like an invisible boarder you cross over entering into the Seattle region. You probably saw it just outside of Olympia. Drivers suddenly go from casual and polite to full throttle maniacs swerving across all 3-5 lanes of traffic.

And the nutty thing is, I bet you could ask any random person on the street about it and they'll agree with you. You wouldn't find anyone that didn't think it was terrible, yet all the assholes saying it are the same assholes doing it.

Unless you're really upgrading to alcans or something like that, just stay w/the OE stuff; not sure if you've done brakes or not on it yet, but a lot of times when fronts are done guys are not replacing the caliper pins (or even lubing them) during the brake job which could cause sticking and uneven wear.... they are meant to be disposable and replaced at each brake job

Seriously, that's what does it for you???

I think I've told this story here already but if not...

After waiting on Gen 3 Tundra release, followed by disappointment, followed by an effort to locally source one of the last '21 Pros at a reasonable price (started search in Oct of 21) I ended up finding a local Ford dealer that would honor X-Plan (as long as it was ordered and not part of their inventory), so I placed an order on a '22 F-150 Tremor w/402a Package... At the time they were only available w/the eco boost, and I was able to order w/torsen front end and auto start-stop delete :D. The 402a gave upgraded interior (most of the Lariat options), plus w/in the tremor line 402a also was the only one w/in the lineup that had an AWD setting; you got all the traditional 4hi/4low/crawl mode, etc... but the AWD was only on the 402a, and that seemed ideal for driving on snow/ice, so it was a no-brainer...

At the time MSRP on that build was $72k and change. X-plan got it down to $66k and change... Since then, I know they've gone up about $10k as you've stated, and they now have an option to either run eco boost or the V8.

... Anyhow, while waiting on my Tremor build, I was still hopelessly searching for a new '21 Pro (just cuz). I ended up finding a dealer in IA that had one that just came in, was still in detail and had not even seen a test drive yet; surprisingly the dealer was not trying to screw people w/ADM, etc. and said he'd be happy to sell it to me at a reasonable price. He did a video walk-around and such for me real quick to verify options, mileage, etc.. and I secured the transaction w/CC deposit. I arranged for transport (that took some time due to weather and holiday (Thanksgiving), but I landed it for almost $7k (w/transport fees) that any in-state dealers would sell me one of their remaining Lunar Rock Pros for.

I jumped on it w/o hesitation and have been super happy w/the new Pro. However, the Tremor I drove was super comfortable and some of those other options would have been nice to have such as the AWD, turn assist, etc...

G... I think you're gonna be super happy w/the new rig. :mudding:

Back to the story... So, I called my salesperson on the Tremor and told her that I'd need to cancel my deal and understood that I'd be forfeiting my $500 deposit. We chatted for a bit, and she ended up saying don't worry about the deposit I'll be happy to refund it to you (which she did immediately) as she explained that she'll have the Tremor sold before the end of the day at MSRP plus $10k markup w/zero effort (crazy freakin' times)....

Moral of the story, if something happened to my Pro, I wouldn't hesitate to order another F-150 from that same dealer/salesperson to replace it with.

    @OldGuy03

I tried them once on my '08 when I was doing a lot of towing. I was able to avoid having the rotors warp w/the power stop kit (probably more heat dissipation) , but the pads wore kinda funny on them (the pads almost seemed to be 'shaving' kinda weird on the edges)... The also were noisier than the OE pads (which can be typical w/a harder pad)... I went back to OE

Exactly what I was thinking. Also a good reminder on replacing the caliper pins. OE seems to be a okay for what I do and tow. I'm not towing any travel trailers or anything. Just a lot of beer and some inflatables.

I'll bite on this one and just give my perspective...

I agree w/boyhowdy in the sense that folks can do as they please and wearing something like that doesn't affect me at all, so go forth and conquer

However, without even getting into the efficacy of the device, morals, etc, the part that does bother me is this...

The town I live in has a substantial amount of elderly and seniors in it; mixed w/an abundance of fisherman and other blue collar types. We are a couple of years removed from this 'thing', yet on any given day I can still come across at least a couple of folks that are walking around in absolute fear (you can see it clear as day in some of their eyes) of the proximity of other humans. It used to be much more prevalent, but it's still a thing to a lessor degree. It breaks my heart to see folks still living in fear and now living their remainder of their lives refusing help or in complete avoidance of other people because of how they were conditioned... :(
