    Yeah, NO o_O:mad:

This thing will be done here in the house ...F@C&ING antique that my son & I moved in 2 pieces

out of our way....We took the glass shelves out to lighten it and prevent oops.. It Still was an

    "Opera Singer " :p

Now she wants to refinish it :rolleyes:....Saving grace is that she will disguise the glass panels on the

    sides with murals;

Easier on my wallet than purchasing NEW and with a Kitchen Reno breathing down my neck,

I'll quietly choose my battles :cool:

    WOOOO,

Almost forgot... My garage has AC and once I replace the fan motor it will be

Vented to be a smaller paint/varnish booth.. Con & I both have "Tinker projects" .

.Mine just needs different tools :devil:

My first attempt building a pergola. I installed a sun shade up top and added 60’ of misters all around. Feels good sitting outside again in 100*+.

Spent the day prepping for our appointments and then getting to watch my son for another growth measurement and health check. Apparently he is doing good and growing fast in there!

So, I picked up some supplies for the outside projects and then cleaned up this cabling since I am not interested in dropping more cables in the attic right now. couple bucks and now, no loose wires. When i get my cameras and do more pulls, I will just do cat plugs behind each computer in here. Sucks there is a fire break in the wall, thats the real reason I am in no hurry to tackle this plug run.

Cleaned up the top of the desk. Need to finish the wiring on the underside, but TBH, I always hated that side. This was a nice break after two trailer loads of downed trees off the property and some mowing... Hot out here, but happy to be wrapping up the "work week." I also installed 2 more hard drives in the PC.

Nursery is about wrapped up. Bags are mostly packed. Almost ready to meet this little dude.

variety depending where, but the one I used the most was iCSee with their PTZ. After consulting with my buddy who’s done many, many hardwire installs he recommended Night Owl as he’s also had it for six years without issue. The cool thing is, I can also add WiFi ones on top of these wired one if I desired

Started the next big house project. Replacing old carpet and laminate wood floor with some waterproof LVP throughout entire first floor. Spent 20 hrs pulling staples from original linoleum/luan. 5lbs of them!

Finally all prepped and starting to tap it together. These 9"x6' planks are a little more challenging than the smaller ones.

BTW. You can carefully separate the outer metal cover from the plastic frame and clean between. This plus cleaning the drum outside fixed my stinky washer and constant black sludge issue.

I fought this thing for a week. First tried kroil, then evaporust, then heat with the bolt out and the washcycle on. Nothing. Finally last ditch pb blaster worked. Sprayed, jiggled it back and forth so it would work into the splines. Repeated x5. Came out smooth as can be.

I still have a slight wobble at low speed. I used a metal hub to fasten the tub to the driveshaft (not sure why this isn’t standard) and replaced the rods as well. Better but not perfect. Think the bearing in the motor has some play resulting in driveshaft play which the tub is bolted to. Will be picking up speed queens whenever we move. Working on these maytags, whirlpools, kenmores is for the birds.

They certainly don't make em like they used to. Planned obsolescence. But they are pretty easy to work on and aftermarket parts are cheap. I pick up all the free sidewalk washers and dryers I can to fix and flip for fun. You know what I don't see out there? Speedqueens. It's always samsungs and their modern kenmore/whirlpool copy cats.

Haha nice, not a bad little side hobby. Flipping is definitely a business out here for sure.

I assume you mostly do top loaders and stay away from fronts? I’ve seen a couple repairs for front loaders and those seem like a lot of work

Holy smokes that sucks the big one!
Has this happened before, are they new to the hood?
Also what are your local laws to benefit you in times like this, that would be a "friendly neighbor" relationship killer if there is something in place that prevents run off like what you had going on there.
If your not friendly with the neighbors or don't want to start friction there are ways around that Tsunami.
It maybe labor intensive and I don't know what you have for lanscape, but if you have any pitch in the back yard preferably by the fence you could build a run off trench with cement and have it dump in the woods, well if you have both then it's just labor and cement.

Sorry man that really sucks,I'm sure your pool filter medium took a hit to and will have to be replaced as well.

Welp, not sure what we did yesterday but I got this text message at work
    IMG_8987.jpg

Came home and the transmission is completely shot. Not sure if the upgraded all metal drive was the final straw that broke the camels back or what.

told my wife not to worry and she can clean the clothes on my washboard abs. She didn’t think it was funny

Long story so I'll try to keep it short. Went to visit my parents up in Michigan. They had bought a condo in May and a dude was supposed to go in and fix it up for them. By the time we drove up there 12 days ago, he still hadn't finished. Started a lot of shit but only finished the shower and he half-assed it. My sister sent me the pics below before we headed out but there would be no way I could do anything to fix it in the 5 days we had planned to stay.

    IMG_5245.jpg IMG_5246.jpg IMG_5244.jpg IMG_5242.jpg IMG_5241.jpg IMG_5240.jpg IMG_5243.jpg

My gut told me to bring as many tools as I could but I couldn't fit much more than my little tool bag with level, electrical tools, and a level in the truck (had luggage for 4 and two inflatable mattresses taking up the bed).

Got there and the dude fucked everything up.

He grouted the shower drain in and I'm assuming he got grout in the pipes:
    IMG_5249.jpg

This is his idea of putting in laminate flooring:

    IMG_5246.jpg IMG_5247.jpg

Notice here, he didn't bother putting the base board back on:

    IMG_5248.jpg

He ripped apart the bathroom fan to wire a light that he installed over the shower and left it.

    IMG_5244.jpg

I didn't have the tools to fix the floor. I was able to buy a Panasonic remodel fan and wired the light using its junction box to make it code (thanks @RainMan_PNW for giving me the idea).

    IMG_5245.jpg IMG_5252.jpg

He didn't put the trim back on next to the shower. Apparently he had replaced the drywall and also failed to tape the joints. I ended up buying some tub caulk to fill the gap and also sealed the top of the shower and anywhere he didn't get the grout in.

    IMG_5261.jpg

    IMG_5263.jpg

    IMG_5264.jpg

He didn't get the transition piece nailed down correctly. It looked like he shot through the plastic with a nail gun. I was able to temporarily velcro it into place.

    IMG_5259.jpg

My dad had been in the hospital. He's a former Marine who served in Viet Nam and was exposed to Agent Orange. He's been struggling with Parkinsonism and just had a pacemaker put in. I arrived on Saturday night, he was in rehab until Wednesday so in addition to trying to identify any hazards that the idiot who did the work to their house had cause, I was trying to make it more accessible to dad. Unfortunately I didn't have the tools or the time to do much - I only had about a day and a half (hospital visits) to get done what I could.

I added a ton of grab bars (tip: those Wing-its they sell at Home Depot are worth every penny).

    IMG_5255.jpg IMG_5256.jpg

My mom was having a ramp put in their garage entrance but it wasn't going to be built until today (as I'm writing this) so I made a temporary redneck rail out of a dowel rod to make the steps safer (she fell and broke her foot a few weeks earlier on those steps).

    IMG_5257.jpg

I also added an extra grab bar for good measure.

    IMG_5258.jpg

He came home soon after the rail and grab bars were installed and they helped out a lot. I hung a towel bar for them in their bathroom.

    IMG_5260.jpg

Next morning he woke up and couldn't get out of bed. We had to call an ambulance because he couldn't walk. Turns out he had a horrible UTI that the in-hospital rehab center didn't catch. It was good that he went back in though because they also found a loose wire on his new pacemaker.

After that I went into their laundry room and found that the guy had half-assed some wall paneling and didn't use outlet extenders.

    IMG_5266.jpg IMG_5265.jpg IMG_5269.jpg

I also found one of the outlets loaded up with sawdust from his cutting.

    IMG_5274.jpg

I vacuumed it out and put the extenders on the ones I could. A few of them needed to be recut so I couldn't do anything with those.

    IMG_5276.jpg IMG_5275.jpg

Anyways, I did the best I could with a borrowed drill and the tools I had on hand. I'm hopeful dad will get back home soon and they'll be able to find somebody reasonable to fix/replace all of the bullshit this guy did.

Dryer has been increasingly getting noisier. 2 year old Maytag. Bought a roller and belt kit. Took it apart. Rollers and belt look new, as one would expect. The blower fan has come uncoupled from the threaded bushing that holds it onto the shaft of the belt motor. It was dragging and spinning, but not fully. Wobbles and makes rumbling noises. Couldn’t get it to spin off due to being decoupled from the shaft. So I ordered a new one and filled the space between the fan hub and threaded shaft with gorilla superglue. After 5 mins they are now coupled together. I’ll replace with the new when it comes in. Likely have to just cut the plastic fan off and use vice grips to remove the threaded hub.

What a POS GC. He thought he could just half ass this one because nobody would notice, take the money and run.
Glad they found the loose wire on the pacemaker. Those aren’t anything to play around with. By chance, is the doc who did the pacemaker related to the GC?
Good on you for catching it and doing what you can to correct it.
