But do they know which way to go ? Why do some roundabouts have 2 lanes ? It all needs explaining to them . Oh maybe they should put some stop signs in them . lol

There IS a good answer. Use the European model for issuing driver's licenses. It is much more difficult to get your license, which means fewer idiots on the road. It doesn't eliminate all bad drivers, but it does cut way down on the stupid ones who can't negotiate a roundabout.

there's not many things I'd want to model after European countries.
But I definitely agree that they hand out licenses to anyone and everyone here.
$20, spell your name correctly, count to 15 an "what color is a stop sign?"
you got most of it right, here's your license. you're now free to operate a 2 ton machine that's capable of 120 mph on open roads, unsupervised.
make sure you're insured for at least $25k, in case you ruin someone's life.

Maybe in principle but certainly not in practice with the ones installed in Gatineau, QC. They built several throughout the city starting about 10 yrs ago. There was one near my old place of work. It was small in diameter, and had three lanes with 4 entry/exit points. Because of the small size and 3 lanes, you constantly have folks who are in the either the most inner lane or second lane who want to exit while someone enters in the third lane. So many close calls. You are not supposed to exit from the inner most lane, but can exit from the second lane, so really bad design. I’m surprised they haven’t done anything to address this obvious issue.
Also, they built two massive ones near the village close to where I live. They did this as part of a major redo of the 4-lane Hwy expansion also about 10 yrs ago. There are two located next to each other to allow folks to access the old 2-lane Hwy and the village. They are of a larger diameter single lane design. Only issue is that they were not properly designed for large transport trucks to negotiate. So, you see tire marks from the trailers all over the curbs. It just baffles me how the engineers cannot design something so simple for these trucks to negotiate.

LOL, I had a case of this with some rando last week. Had a paper on his rear stating he will slow down for tailgaters.... As I was approaching him from half a block away, in a 60mph zone I started to notice a creep in our buffer zone. Next thing I knew I was going 25 in a 60, like WTF... So, I dimed him out to the Sheriff, causing unsafe road conditions for everybody, I can't pass safely, without dropping my speed to 10mph and waiting 10 miles to have enough space to pass him while probably causing a rear end collision on me, cuz this cat don't want anyone remotely behind him. FTP. lol.

One of my last projects was working with the state of Indiana designing automatic warning devices (lights & gates) where they thought it would be wise to put a traffic circle over railroad tracks. The ball was in their court when I retired and besides ignoring a few calls from INDOT after I left I've not heard if they ever completed that project.

Follow up with the bank fiasco. Met with my financial planner this morning. Branch manager came in to hear what happened. The Regional VP just happened to be meeting with her. She said she would pass on what happened. Agreed it was unacceptable for the teller to ask me why I was at Costco so “far” from home. Stated it was not their policy to ask such questions. My advisor will file a complaint on my behalf. They asked me what I wanted, and said just an apology. Will see what happens.

You'd think I'd get more than 50 hours out of the drive belt of my new John Deere mower!! Burned up yesterday, left me stranded on the far side of the yard.

JD really seems to have gone downhill the last 10 years or so. My grandfather's older John Deere mower that he bought in the 80s was way better than the one he replaced it with.

Went to visit family today and drove through a blinding rain storm. Visibility was probably 50 feet. Half a dozen micro-brained milliwits were driving with their emergency flashers on. Everyone had slowed down and it was hard to tell if they were moving, or stopped. What is it about rain that lowers their intelligence to sub-houseplant levels?

    intelligence is permanently lowered.
they've been on 8 different meds since they were 6 yrs old, they were given a snack every time they were little assholes, they were raised by an electronic device and they were never called an idiot, or slapped in the back of the head when they were an idiot.
Nothing bad has ever happened to them for being a moron.

Whatever this forum told me to do
    agreed.

I taught my kids to not be like that.

For every one of the smooth brained folks or social media addicts, means there is one less person to compete with in the intellectual market place.

They do not know how to provide value to the tribe. (cave man shit)

they make it easier for you and I to succeed.

it's a tough day when you realize nobody cares about you.

I think that's the day you go out & get a nose ring, or purple hair, or tattoo, or change your "identity"---thinking that will make you exceptional.

that whole process does not end well.

Curious if you still have children at home?

We don't have children (nor pets) and I agree it is difficult to converse with those who still have kids at home. Our daily lives and interests/responsibilities are quite different. HOWEVER, we have a lot of good friends whose adult children are out of the house on their own, and we have no problem finding common ground for conversation and get togethers. I think it just depends on where you're at in life. Don't write us childless couples off yet, we may be able to hang out and be friends once you become empty nesters!
