Ouch, sounds painful and never heard of that injury "tennis leg". Happy healing though, hope you are able to be up and walking again soon. I ruptured a couple of ankle ligaments a few years ago and it legit took like a year for everything to feel pretty good again, lost some ROM, but no more pain.

I literally can't lay in bed and do nothing. Wife is on my ass to lay up and elevate and all I wanna do is do get up and work on stuff, straighten stuff up, play with my kids, spank my kids, etc..... and it's incredibly hard not being able to do that.

Knowing when to rest and doing it are 2 different things. As hard as it is just keep yourself in check.

In all seriousness though, I'm glad you're not looking at surgery... Gettin' old freakin' sucks and it's amazing how much easier things are to break and how much longer they take to heal :(

Still very sore, and cannot bear much weight but as of now, the only bruising left is around my knee. Weird - no?

Considered asking for a steroid shot right at the knee area/bruised area?
I did that and it did help, but try not to make a habit of getting used to it, it will hurt you more so in the long run.

Just saw this. I actually did almost the same thing back in 2016. Was in STL at the City Museum (if you've never been there and are in the area - it is WELL worth it). I was running and jumping and committed the cardinal sin of anyone over about 35 - I didn't stretch or warm up.

Went to jump off of something and felt a *pop* in my left calf; and in about 10 seconds flat it was all but impossible to walk. Thankfully, we were like 3 or so miles from Barnes Jewish Hospital; so we made our way over there.

Long story short, I was diagnosed with a "grade 2 gastrocnemius tear." Supposedly you will KNOW if you have a grade 3 because it'll be damn near impossible to walk/bear weight. (Not a doc but that's what they told me.) As I *could* bear weight and walk (though it hurt like hell), they diagnosed it as a grade 2.

I took it SUPER easy for a few months, elevated it as often as I could, alternated ice and heat, took cissus quadrangularis for swelling and pain, all those things.

It took a solid 3 to 4 months to 'fully' heal (where I could do anything I wanted), but aside from some scar tissue that I get taken care of via massage occasionally, all is well now. :)

I was just browsing through the forum and ran across this thread. A little over a week ago I felt something pop in between my forearm and bicep while I was lifting my bike. I'd never felt a pop like that before and immediately after lots of pain. I have a doctors appointment tomorrow for it, but I fear I have a distal bicep tear. I'm hoping it won't require surgery, but my bicep is not in the correct location anymore. My arm looks really flat now, and swollen and bruised.

OP, hope your leg is healing up well. I think it could've been a lot worse and been an Achilles rupture. Ask me how I know they suck:

OUCH. How'd you do this? Luckily, my injury wasn't anywhere near this severe.

I'm good man! Not 100% but I'm sure it'll get there with more time. I haven't tried to run or jump yet, but I can walk normally and wear my boots. When I touch along the calf I still feel like it's a little tight and I don't think I can fully fold my leg up under me like I can with my right. I told myself I'd go to a personal trainer when I feel 100% and plan to stick to that goal.

Damn dude, you probably tore that bicep for sure. Let us know how the diagnosis goes...... good luck! We are getting old!

Playing basketball, but it was a totally routine play. Took 1 dribble and 1 step, then felt like something fell on the back of my leg and my leg just gave out. 10 days left in the walking boot then back to some semblance of normalcy

Yup. Something I've done countless times has delayed so many projects and plans. Very frustrating, especially since I'm only 31 y.o. and now am kinda spooked about ever even playing basketball again

Ok yeah I'd be startled too if I was 31 and had that happen. I'm 3 years away from half a century and my calf muscle popped lol

Glad to hear that you are on the mend.

I just had my appointment and didn't learn a whole lot. I got xrays done and a referral to an orthopedic doctor. So, now I get to go to another appointment Friday.

Yeah same happened to me except I didn't get much done until a couple weeks after due to a hurricane scare shutting everything down.

Had an MRI Saturday and found out yesterday that my bicep is completely torn. My window since the injury occurred and being able to repair it properly is very close to running out. So surgery tomorrow. I am less than thrilled and have no time to plan for anything.
