DIY: Baja Designs Squadron-R Sport, 14+ Mount Kit & Bezel

For me, yes. I'm a bit picky with lighting though. I'm sure I could use them a lot on country roads, turning them off as I would high beams.

I know others feel differently though, and I'm not saying they are wrong, just my opinion.

 

That’s what I have right now and it doesn’t light anything but below the headlights lol. I’ll end up like you and probably just use it on desolate roads. Maybe I’ll swap the lense to the combo for more lighting power! Since I don’t have any other light bars on the truck.

Im running the XBs as well and coming home the other night it was very densly fogged driving. I tried a combination of all of my lights (dually pods, single row grill bar, my XBs without any other sources) and my light bar outperformed even my low beans with fogs. I know others that swear fogs are only for others to see you but I'm still not in full agreement. I need a light to cut through snow, not just for others to see me. It sounds like I need some BD sports

 

Just do it. Call Bailey over BD and he will take care of you! But the BD's lights might be too high and might just blind yourself? Kind like using your highs when its foggy? Just a thought but you should get them anyway! Ha!

 

Aren't fog lights supposed to have a cutoff not top far in front of the vehicle?

Copy that. I'm going with the combo lens. After I order and get them in I'll fire up pics.

 

I have the clear driving combo lenses and there is no way that I would keep them on if there was oncoming traffic. UPS should be dropping off a package today with the angled bezels and amber combo lenses. I'm interested to find out if the amber really helps cut through dust.
Bailey is really easy to deal with if anyone is looking to order the lights.

 

Do they point to high?

 

I wouldn't say high, but they throw pretty far and the light output is fairly incredible.

 

Gotcha. What would you reccomend for day to day driving?

 

If you need something that you can use on road and in traffic, look at the Morimoto XB fogs.

 

I feel like if y’all buy the sports with conering lens and angle them down a bit, y’all should be able to use them on the street nightly without a problem, I use my pros regularly without a issue and they throw more excessive light.

You can see I tilt them down in the first picture.

 

I'm not the authority on this, but I think these are auxiliary off road lights that are made to fit in the stock fog location. The beam pattern on wide cornering lenses does cut off lower than the others.

Driving combo...angled down a tad

 

I'd like to point out, if it hasn't been yet, that once you install these lights, it's easier to change the lens because you can just pull the lights out through the front of the bumper. Absolutely no need to go through wheel well. This is because you add to the harness length as part of the installation.

Also, I'm thinking im' going to replace the combo lens with the wide angle lens, then angle the lights down so I can use them more often.

Does the plastic bezel around be the fogs have to be removed to swap lenses? I purchased an extra lens also.

 

Sorry, haven't done mine yet. I don't remember seeing a plastic bezel though.

edit: now i understand your question based on mototundra's response below. he's correct. the plastic OEM housing has to be removed from the bumper along with the fog light, then the light has to be removed from the housing in order to change the lens. you'll also have to remove the tundra specific metal bezel provided by Baja designs to get to the lens.

 

Yes, but it just pops out. After already installing these you will have extra wire to work with to pull the light assembly out of the bumper without having to worry about ripping wires.

Having access behind the wheel well helped me get mine popped back it, but I'm sure it can be done just fine after initial install just popping out the plastic housing from the front.

 

I see. I'd be interested in these if they had a lower cutoff like the OEM fogs
