I’m changing my pads and rotors and found this when installing the rotor. Should I continue with this or contact sparks parts for a replacement?

Are they actually pits in the rotor? Some look like it but some don’t. If so, I’d replace the rotor since it could leak to cracks.

First I’d figure out what caused it. Looks like something by centrifugal force. Hub leaking? Check rear diff fluid? If it’s leaking and low, it’ll be running hot. Wouldn’t think it’d be hot enough to melt a rotor though.

Sorry I should have clarified I’m in the middle of putting new rotors and pads on and noticed this ding on the edge of the rotor. The box wasn’t damaged in shipping so I guess it came like that from the factory. It doesn’t touch where the pad is. It’s hard to see but it’s pretty small. IMG_7715.jpg

Run it. Even if it was in the brake pad contact area, I would worry about that small ding.

I want to but man with my work schedule and having to order it the timeline doesn’t work well to do that. We shall see how it does. I’ve got a hunting trip to Colorado in September so I’ll be monitoring it between now and then to make sure it’s good to go.

As Pursuit2550 said run it - But takes pics before hand and ask for some kind of refund to compensate for you knowing about the ding they tried to slip past you - which of course isn't cool really.

I plan on calling them tomorrow to see if they can document it for warranty in case something happens.
