Sylvania Silverstar used to be the go-to before all these modern 'systems', but the life span was never great. Good output w/o melting wires.
I've heard Phillips Crystal Vision is a better choice, but I have no personal experience.

Had some time this evening, figured I’d start on my LBJ’s & Bilstein 5100’s. Didn’t expect to need a 24 mm socket so I didn’t get too far with the LBJ, excuse to buy more tools I guess. Shock is in, bolts just need to be torqued.

Extended sway bar end links on the way, should have one side buttoned up by tomorrow.

    George kept me company.

Yeah. I won't deny a gun makes me feel safer, but I know the statistics. Bear spray is more effective. Doesn't hurt to double-up though. :)

If that's legitimately adhesive and not some kind of hardened glue, 3-in-1 oil will safely take it off w/o impacting the paint. Some sticker removers from the store will soften clearcoats, 3-in-1 won't, and it works quickly. Throw a towel in the seam between tailgate and bumper. Squirt a little 3-in-1 on a couple of letters to wet it, then rub the 3-in-1 into it so it can start working at the adhesive. The adhesive, if it's the typical soft adhesive used with stickers/badges, will start balling up. Keep going until it's nothing but BALLS, then wipe with a clean paper towel. Repeat until gone. Rub out with a little buffing compound after, then wax the whole tailgate.

It won't repair the scratches I'm seeing under the "OTA", but the buffing compount may at least cut that down a little bit.

This stuff specifically, it will absolutely (and safely) obliterate adhesive in small quantities. Works incredibly well. Sitting on a 2x4 for scale.

    Well...:D

Especially with a grizzly, shooting and missing is one thing. And how many gun owners are well trained to shoot a hand gun accurately, especially under pressure (like a bear charging you)? None of us really know how cool we'll be under life & death pressure unless we're unfortunate enough to be tested. But the real problem is hitting it, but not killing it. Bear spray is a true deterrent. Being shot but not killed means you've got an injured, extremely pissed off bear. Bear spray allows a bear, in it's natural habitat, that was surprised by you, to go on living. Most bear encounters are people hiking/hunting, surprising a bear. It's defensive/territorial. In that case, I want to the bear to live, having learned a lesson that charging a person means a blast of pepper spray. But if a bear is coming in my tent/truck/camper specifically for me, unprovoked, it's another story.

He's not talking about that kind of rubbing out! Ah shit, wrong reply...

WD40 works, but 3in1 seems to get it don 3x-4x faster for me. WD40 works better (it's slipperier) at taking things off with plastic flat razors, which everyone should have in their toolbox. Box of 50 - 100 is dirt cheap on scAmazon. They're pretty much single use, to you'll go through a couple on a job like what he's up against, but WD40 helps them slide thru adhesive without scratching paint nicely. As long as you keep the razor near-flat to the surface.

Went by my local dealership to get the part number on the LBJ recall kit. They couldn’t tell me if it came with bolt/dust shields or not. Figured it was worth ordering to find out as the price is the same if you ordered separately.

Previous owner had it painted so adhesive is underneath the paint. I’ve even buffed this.

I use 3M adhesive remover and it’s amazing for this stuff.

Want to test your cool under pressure?
Here's how we simulated adrenaline in the police academy:
100yd dash in your boots and your utility belt, into the gun range with almost no lighting on, and moving targets (both of good guys, don't shoot, and bad guys, shoot. Also a few hostage situations.
I did pretty well til I got cocky and took a shot I had no business taking and shot a hostage in the arm.

That sounds great. Or drink way too much coffee and invite a bunch of people to watch and judge. Works for public speaking...

But yeah. Most of us think we'll be a hero. Some percentage of those heroes will simply freeze, or completely fall apart during a life-or-death situation. Can be trained to some extent, but I think a large part of it is innate, and most of us will never know.

You know I am/ was a certified USCCA firearms instructor, and one in the Navy as well. You want to test your under pressure skills...... Well I shot 2 gun for 4 years and know how to design brutality stages for 2GAM Matches. Can't legally call them brutality matches as it's copy righted by Russell Fagon and his 2 Gun Match company. But I'll fuck with ya

No doubt you have some neat tips and tricks. My buddy Cory and his wife do competition shooting. Looks fun.

We didn't get to do the 12hr SWAT training because the instructor had like a brain aneurysm or something and it got cancelled.

Hindsight being 20/20, I should've trained just a hair harder to drop another 30lbs, I should've applied to Houston PD, as well as the state trooper academy. Seemed at the time all the smaller PD's around Houston were only hiring 1-2 officers at a time and the testing groups were always like 50 applicants. I was always in the top 10, sometimes the top 3. I also think none of the smaller PD's wanted to hire a rookie with a bachelor's in CJ, meaning they'd have to pay me about what a sergeant made.
Also one of the sheriff's offices I applied for twice, had a recruiter that was holding his dick til he retired. The application process is a bitch.

2 years went by and my peace officer license expired.
    The political climate had changed.
I spiralled into a deep depression and put on a metric fuck ton of weight.

I was no longer interested. I gave it my best shot and it didn't work out.

    Also @Ezlube you're an asshole. :D

But I'm working on bettering myself now.
I've lost 100lbs in the last year.
Been thinking about going back to community college for a change in career.

Shit, I get it. I was close to getting in as a fireman but never got the final call so I took the offer from the post office when they called and ended up being a mailman for 20 years. Oh, and yeah, I get the weight thing, I've always been a fat ass and it's a bitch to get rid of the lbs.
