Can I run 285 or 295 without a lift?

Ok so I'm looking to get some AT for my truck. My current size is 275/55r20... Would I be able to run a 285 or a 295? Without lift?

 

you can run a 295/55/20 without a lift, but you may need to remove or trim the mud flaps. However, if you have the 20x8 +60mm offset wheels that come on the limited's, then a 285 might be the widest tire you can run.

yeah... its funny... I asked my wife what she thought were the most asked questions on this site. after a few moments, she answered, "what lift should I get?" and "what tires will fit?" i literally laughed. she doesn't even view this site and she was spot on

EDIT:
although, I do have to say, most of the information on this site about tire sizes are for those with 2-3" lifts. when I was going through the tire selection process, I could not find definitive information about small lifts and slightly larger tires for my application.

So, I don't mind answering these questions

I'm running 285/55r20 bfg's. No lift and it's a 2wd. They are close, but absolutely zero rubbing at any time.

 

I have 295/55/20 Ridge Grappler's on my stock Platinum with ZERO rubbing anywhere. And, the mudflap does not need to be removed. Ironically, my speedo is dead on perfect with this size.

I have the same tire, but on texas edition wheels (lower offset) so I had to remove the front mud flap. however, I did see that my speedometer is exact as well

how close to the UCA is that tire with the platinum wheels?
