Hi, the truck pulls suddenly left or right at highway speeds. I've owned it for two weeks; the 900 miles are mostly from the drive home from the dealership.
At first, I assumed it was uneven roads. Then I thought some sort of lane assist was auto-correcting. I'm not so sure anymore. Is it possible the wheels were installed out of alignment?
    Am I doing something wrong?

A bad CV joint will cause that, as will the tires following grooved, uneven, or bumpy pavement. In addition the lane keeping BS can do that as well.

    How do I diagnose this?

It’s a 2024, you diagnose it by driving it down to the dealer, handing them the keys, and telling them to fix the thing.

given how new it is, and I assume accident free, I would guess either tires grabbing stuff, or the software getting uppity.

    Lots of stuff!
My guess is the lane departure system. Sometimes it feels like the truck wants to go in a different direction and fights you if there is a line that you are crossing.

When you are merging to the right, try signalling before you merge and see if the pulling effect goes away.

Using the signals will turn off the lane departure momentarily.

I find that running the tires at the recommended air pressure makes the steering flighty. I have to run 35-36psi on my stock tires.

I also turned off the Lane Tracking Assist feature. Very annoying and not very helpful.

There's Lane Departure and Lane Tracing Assist. Both automate the steering and give the sensation of the truck pulling side to side. Both are useless features, in my book, so I leave both permanently turned off. Consult your owners manual.

Sometimes the lane assist features see a part of the road it "thinks" might be a lane marking so it adjusts for you. Or the lane markings aren't consistent (quality or turning lanes/etc), and that can confuse it. For example I drive by an intersection every day that has an asphalt filled crack parallel to my pickup, and at the right time of day (sun glare) and if I'm close enough, it thinks that's a lane and I'm too close.

That's the smart thing to do. I am 3 hours roundtrip from the closest dealer and 10 from the selling dealer. I can take it to the closest?

You can have warranty work done at any Toyota dealership.

But, before you waste a day doing that, have you confirmed Lane Departure is off, and Lane Tracing is also off when using the Adaptive Cruise? If not, spend 5 minutes with your owners manual to learn how to turn both off, then see if that corrects the problem.

I think the lane departure on these 3rd gen tundras is a lot more aggressive feeling than other vehicles I have had with it, I turned it off because I felt like it jerked me over the road

There are a lot of lines in the road where I live. It is impossible to use this feature on our 21 RAV4.

The first time I used Lane Tracing Assist was on a roadtrip with my wife. It caused her to wake from a nap and ask me, "why are you swerving so much?" It pinballs side to side badly in every sensitivity setting. I can easily drive a straighter line myself. And, since you still have to keep a hand on the wheel with LTA, there really isn't any point to it. It's a very poorly implemented system, IMO.

I feel the exact same way. Drove a rental Chrysler Pacifica and it was much better and smoother. Didn't realize you could turn it all the way off in the Tundra. Definitely doing that.

My experience with Lane control has been good in my Tundra. Drives straight down the middle with nary a beep. Occasional hard tug when road gets rough or the lines get iffy. My wife who is as sensitive to the tiniest imperfection going down the road has never mentioned it in 20k miles.

Compare it to the 2019 Camry commuter I had with previous gen lane assist where I beeped and tugged all over the place for no apparent reason. My wife refused to ride in that one. Called it my DUI car.

Ohhhh, I turned off the LTA but this persists and I didn’t see a way to turn it off or what it’s name might be.
It is the only thing I hate so far. I take wide births around bikers, runners, etc and it wants to pull me back towards them.

I think I’m missing something. It’s that effn thing under the speed. In this case I’m swerving over the right lane.
    What button turns off?

Edit- Tried that Tow+ at same time. Nice!

Was wondering the same. The button on the steering wheel turns off both LTA and Lane Centering.

Thank you! That looked like a radio with a star on it. lol. I went through the left hand buttons and then configure and turned all that off manually. My wheel is different though

When I was driving with my cruise control on, i noticed the same thing. Then I figured out the lane centering was on, which is different from lane correcting. It took a bit to get used to but I kinda like it now. I just have to hold onto the steering wheel and it basically drives for me while the cruise control is on. Sometimes it seems like it is a bit of sudden pull to the left or the right but that may be what you are experiencing.
