I don't even see where you can buy the things. They just want you to get them installed by a "professional".

    It's been fixed.

That is almost exactly what we do. Wife is going through the Big M, though - so . .

I always tell the story to anyone who will listen (which excludes my Wife and many others) that our bodies naturally adjust to higher/lower temps. Being in the Middle East in the summer - 140 degrees during the day with some humidity - if we got "sleep," we would be cold at night in our sleeping bags at anything under 100 degrees.

The colder you keep the inside of your house, the harder it is to transition to the outside and the hotter it feels. I'm like "Its hot in here? Go outside for 5 mins - it will be fine." LOL Goes over great . .

I keep my t-stat at 71 year round, but the thermometer on my beer table(I don't drink coffee) tells a different story. It stays at 69 over night. 65 in the winter. In the summer it will get up to 75. I've seen it as low as 58 in the winter, and the heater ran constantly. We fixed that though. But yeah, I keep it cold in my house year round, well, if my AC would keep up.

T-stat is on 74, but the house stays between 72-73.

If you ARE the professional, problem solved

I’m sure it’s like any other niche industry where you need to take a course, pass a test, get a license, fill out some paperwork, have a business license - Or some variation of any/all of those - and you can start buying the hardware.

That's what I've been seeing. I've been considering getting my contractors license. My buddys keep asking me to pull permits for them. That's side money I could be making.

    Do it.

Most of my hobbies are fueled by side hustles. Typically it ends up being more buying/rehab/reselling. But I also do a lot of pro-services-for-trade stuff in the restaurant worls. I eat for free at a couple of Michelin-star restaurants in town bartering for tech support, which saves me a couple hundo a month in rent. The sparky that did electrical work at my buddy's brewery had a similar setup; he'd trade work for a gift card, the brewery wrote off the card, and he drank and ate off the books. There's no legitimate reason you couldn't be doing the same. Every dollar you avoid spending out of pocket is a dollar saved, and every dollar you avoid "making" is a dollar less taxed. The professional bartering industry is anything but dead (in Atlanta, at least). You just gotta talk to people, have a card ready, and be available.

I have a question for the many TX members here: Is Georgetown sketchy? I'm thinking of getting back into a Turd gen Tundra with a V8, and I found one that is just like the one I traded at a VW dealership down there. I'm trying to find a way to get it checked out because the dealership has a legitimate motive to not tell me the important stuff, and I'd hate to make a trip down there and run up miles only to find out there was something wrong with it. Anyone know if this dealership https://www.hewlettvw.com/used-Georgetown-2019-Toyota-Tundra+4WD-+-5TFDY5F17KX799454 is trustworthy?

Ooooor, bigger ask, is anyone close to it and maybe willing to pop in and look it over for the usual items like frame condition, cam tower leak, etc.? Of course I'd be happy to venmo or paypal to the parts or beer fund if anyone is willing.

If I had the tools, a garage, and the brains to do the work myself, I would consider it.

I can send a buddy next weekend. I like going to georgetown, but i've never been to the sketchy side. Got a buddy with a brewery in waco, and they do brewery events there. & my truck looks nice enough the cops dont hassle me for sleeping in it.

That'd be the 27th/28th? If it's still there, and I haven't done anything else I may take you up on that. If it checked out I would be down there at the start of the month to pick it up. :monocle:

I shot him a message, will pm you when I get a reply.
Its my homeboy, been friends since kindergarten, he went through autotech with me. Couple weekends ago i went to his house & replaced an alternator & rebuilt vacuum lines on his '02 SVT focus. I trust his judgement. He'll get the pics you need if you show me the pics you need.

my cousin spent dealership money on a used cadillac cts non-V.

Oh, I trust your judgement. I don't have to have pics, but if he'll send them I certainly won't complain. Thank you so much.

Is the Caddy treating your cousin well? I won't buy one again because the only true lemon I ever had was a Caddy. They look nice, but I don't trust them.

He wouldnt let me take the whole front body apart to replace his headlights, so that cost him over $1k. And since he got a work van he's burned through a battery by not driving it every week, and now that he had fresh headlights he wants it & the wheels repainted. But its a transportation appliance. He used to be into the 13"spokes & hydraulics, so his seat is leaned way back & he drives everywhere 10 under. I dont have the heart to tell him he's driving an opel, but his lowrider was a pontiac.
