I've been meaning to ask, when it's 110 there, does your HVAC have to run pretty much non stop? What temp do you keep it at? Our new system seems to run more often than our old one but could be my imagination. It's been about average temperatures here too. We're supposed to get back down to the low 80's by Thursday. We're in a drought too.

We keep it at 78-80 during the day when no ones home and it’s 105 or above. And then when I get home in the afternoon we slowly crank it down to 74 by bedtime. This is mainly to keep the electrical ill in the 3-350$ range for summer months. We put a 17seer 4ton unit(dual stage) I don’t think a 14 seer unit would run to much higher bills…… the higher seer rating takes a long time to pay itself off supposedly, I’d probably agree but I got the units at cost

but no it doesn’t run non stop, but cycles more often when it’s super hot.

Alright I don't feel as bad then. We've been keeping ours on 74-75 during the day when heat index has been around 100. 72 at night. Our bill has never been over $250 for gas and electric. Water and sewer is separate. Utilities are cheaper here than most of the country though. I'm guessing your house has a shit load of insulation in the attic.

We don’t have attics here; not usually. Mostly “flat” roofs with minimal pitch. I’d like to think there is some sort of insulation up there. In the winter our electric bill is like 125, but gas goes from 30 to 150-200 for the furnace(80% 2 stage)

@FishNinja this was the truck I was talking about. So this long travel kit was "custom built" by the shop. Skid plate didn't even bother to clean up the edges, not even mounted straight, not evenly cut. Bumper mounting tabs are half assed. LCA mounts are bent to hell because the bushings were way too narrow. Killer reservoir mounts. Unfinished welds. This truck was in a small accident (slow speed where FGT was parked) and here's what's bent: UCA, shock shaft, LCA mounts, coil bucket, UBJ sheared off the knuckle, knuckle itself, probably the LCA is tweaked, inner tie rod, outer tie rod. LBJ didn't come apart, but I'm thinking that has to do with the UBJ shearing off. It's definitely a customer's truck because the actual truck this shop has is not the same truck. It's one thing to be a hobbyist and DIY your personal truck, but this is fucked up to be charging a customer for this shit.

I’ve posted pics of my single car garage……
We also have “Arizona” rooms that are like porches but enclosed?

“Florida room” when in Florida. “Sun room” in many states, if south facing.

Hahah yeah same thing. Most AZ rooms aren’t conditioned…….
I kinda have a az room but it was more of an addition with duct work and a new slab. A house like 3 down has the exact same floor plan as ours but no addition or enclosed carport like we have now. I haven’t creeped the neighborhood enough but I’m sure there are more clones

I'm seeing some lower-mileage FGT for sale lately.

67K 2000 AC FGT 4WD on Marketplace in Knoxville for $14.5.
36K 2006 DC 4WD on Marketplace in Lil Washington NC. 25K
146K 2001 AC 4WD on MP in NC

There was an '05 or '06 4WD AC with 126K in Mills River yesterday, somewhere for like $14K - can't find it now.

Probably turning them into MIL tiny homes and selling them. $2k sounds like an awesome deal for 9 containers though.

We didn't get shit at our house, just some sprinkles. So I was shocked when I drove to work downtown this morning. Tons of trees down, a big dumpster in the median on Speedway, a huge piece of HVAC ductwork I assume ripped off a building, metal parking covers twisted and folded like paper, stop signs ripped out of the ground, etc. Never seen anything like it.

It was something else for sure….. I drove around for multiple hours inspecting trees and damage in the area; some trees that got demolished, you could see how the wind like twisted it and ripped it, not just blew it over. Kinda crazy to see.

I’m sad because one of those pics is the bunya pine which I think we only had one on campus, and every year it would drop some widow makers like this……
    IMG_6872.jpg
I got the last one on Friday after the storm on Thursday…… at least 8lbs

Did a thing. Sold my off-brand Gen 1.5 Tundra tonight.
going to be hard to resist buying something to fill the parking spot.
Guy was supposed to be back in 3 weeks to buy it. I get a call tonight "Hi, we're at the house to get the truck". LOL, I've got the truck & I'm close to in the next state, walking a trail. Anyway, got 'er done. Got a ride home in his 2008 Tundra 5.7. BIG cabin. Think he said 14 around town & 18 hwy.
I'm still preferring the 1st gen.

The guy I bought the tires and wheels from today was a nice guy, had a ford something or other 4x4, newer, maybe f150 but looked smaller to me, I think it had an FX badge of that means anything. Said he got 21mpg hwy. I was jealous. He had a TAXA Tigermoth trailer he’d. ought in P-Cola yesterday, got it at a good price because it had internal damage from theft and some cosmetic issues, I gleaned he probably picked it up for about $6k. Overall cool dude. Moreover that trailer was f’n awesome, had about everything I would need. But the Coleman/etc. popups would probably better suit our family needs.

Hell, mine does. Yesterday when it was 102, my main AC ran from 2 to 9 straight. That's with 2 window units running as well. They run basically nonstop from 9 to 11. My AC bill was $200 last month, probably $250 this month.

I’m shocked as a sparky you don’t have some crazy shit rigged up in your house for solar. I mean I know you rent and all, but I reckon you could make a fucking killing if you used your current place as a staging ground, maybe for some rent reduction, then setup your own biz doing off-grid shit. Just sayin’.
