Has anyone put Sumo Springs on 3rd Gen?

Tried using the search but couldn’t find anyone that is using sumo springs on third gens, just people suggesting them.

Curious how much they help with sagging while towing! All I can find is references to leaf spring suspension.

Also if you have any insight on the front dampener springs even better! Thanks!

    Nitrogen filled tires!
Check the Tow and Haul section - there are a few conversations about Timbren Summo style springs. I installed the T83MR on my Gen3 and tow a 2000 (dry weight) camper and have zero sag. Most will say use air suspension - likely true if you have a heavy camper. GL.

    Lots of stuff!
I put Timbrens on mine as well. I was able to feel them as the stiffened up the rear. I took them off to allow more movement of the rear when not towing as I found them a bit harsh.

Sumo does not make a set for the 22+ tundra yet.

Yeah, looking specifically for sumo spring because I am off road quite a bit and those sudden drops will suck with timbrens.

I tow a 7500 dry weight camper. It’s an ultralight. Don’t want timbs or bags if I can help it because I’m off road daily. Using WDH at the moment but that thing is massive and a pain to swap.

That’s possible too. I don’t know why they would be available for 22-23 but not 24

I will reach out again to them.
I used sumosprings on my Ram. They worked well. Zero change in ride characteristics unloaded, prevented significant squat, and a reasonable ride when loaded and riding on them. A solid 9 out of 10. Used them in 6 Rams in a row.

Just reached out again, they state there are not rear sumosprings for the ‘24 Tundras. From them “the ‘24 Tundra must have something engineering noticed that is different from the ‘23 so they do not include it in the application”. I asked if they can verify with engineering if they haven’t verified the 2024 is the same as 2023 so they don’t approve the application OR they know the 2024 is different from the 2023 so they don’t approve the application. Important difference.

Ok, one more time. Engineering reached out today. They made an error, there is no difference and the sumosprings for the 2023 will fit the 2024 model.

I have the timbrens on my 24 and they are horrible. Which sumo spring would be the best? I do tow heavy at times.

I had the regular rubber pieces on mine and then I reached out to timbren and they sent me some softer rubber and they made a bit of a difference. I added a 1” rear lift and expect that this would make a huge difference with these bump stops. A little more gap between the rubber and the axle should should limit the jarring ride.

I haven’t put them back yet but soon

This video shows the different color options and what is best for different applications.

I received that exact message from the same person. When I pushed back and asked for clarification they confirmed that message is incorrect, the rear sumo’s listed for the 2023 tundra absolutely do fit the 2024 tundra.

Those are the ones. Same ones I plan to order. Pull the trigger and let us know how they work out. I will try them unloaded and with my 8000 pound boat with ~800 pound tongue weight.

I ordered the blue sumosprings for my truck. I will post my review on them after I install, likely in 2 weeks based on shipping estimates. I will try them unloaded and then with my 8000 lb boat with ~800 lb tongue weight.

Curious to know how they ride on some rough terrain as 15-20MPH unloaded

My Sumo’s arrived this morning. I will install them today and see if the unloaded ride is changed. Won’t be at the boat for a week or two to try them loaded down heavy.

    I installed them today.
I tow a 8000lb boat with 800 pounds of tongue weight on occasion. It drops the back end significantly. I have used Sumosprings in the past on my Ram, so I decided to give them a try.
I have a 2024 Tundra, but the website only lists options up to a 2023. I spoke with their engineering group and confirmed they are ok for the 2024 as well.
I installed the blue version today. Takes about 20 minutes. Can do the entire job laying under the truck without jacking it up or removing the tires. Easy install. There are (3) 12mm bolts on each side. All easily reachable. Once the old ones are off, you assemble the Sumosprings per their instructions. One tip, place the one bolt in place before assembling as you see in the picture. It doesn’t fit in once assembled. You will need an open end wrench to tighten that one bolt.
Once installed there is slightly more than a 1” gap allowing the suspension to flex without engaging. I am 225 pounds. If I sit on the tailgate they almost touch. If I bounce full weight on the tailgate they just engage.
I took a 15 mile ride unloaded. Except on a deep dip in the road with a fast recovery they do not alter the ride at all. In the deep dip they engage on the way out, not obnoxious but I could tell they were touching the axle. So unloaded ride is great.
It will be a week or two before I have my boat back on, I will update once I do. I expect they will perform the same as my Rams did, and stop the squatting while maintaining a decent ride.

I’ve been looking into these, will blue be enough for reducing squat from an 8000lbs trailer, would the denser black sumos be better? I have no idea.

I used the blue ones on my Ram trucks for the same weight, so I rolled the dice on blue again. I will report back once I tow it.

Saw your post on the FB group but got busy and couldn’t find it again so glad you posted here too. Very nice to know that there’s a gap and not constantly engaged. Thank you for this! Keep us posted!

I’m going with the blue and going to get some for the front to take away some of the rattle of washboard.

Was hesitant but now that Paul has confirmed I’m ready

Scroll up a bit and you will see the video that explains the difference in the colors
I believe black is for people that are constantly loaded with like tools in the bed or a heavy camper shell. The yellow is more for the heavy haulers that are constantly loaded with trailers, like over the road drivers.
But like I said, watch the video and he breaks it down pretty good

Sumos are very progressive so even if you load them down, they support really well under load. I did 2 scoops of DG, it was at least 1500lbs and even the lightest sumos felt great and didnt bottom out
