I agree. But, it was well welcomed. I know how I am about losing stuff.

And Toyota continues to say screw our customers and move the goal post. First, it was Feb, then March, then April, then May, now my key will be available in June. This is my last Toyota. Quality has gone downhill and I can’t have the second fob I’m owed. This company is no better than Dodge anymore.

lol the whole wait for a fob was a non-issue, if you really need a 2nd NOW, buy one and have programmed before you close the deal.

I knew the fob delay going in. In fact better than the dealer and salesman. They sent me an outdated grid, see below. I had to send them the updated one.
It is lame though. Blaming on chip shortage yet every dealer has them in stock. Toyotas long dick. Looking out for shareholders.

So where are they now? I'm not sure I'm reading the sheet correctly as I don't even see where my production date is covered. My PD was 02/24. So, will it be some time in 2025? Uggg... :annoyed:

I can see people being frustrated, but not worth it to me to get so upset, cant change it other than to buy one. I would be interested in knowing why the delay in any regard. The chip shortage argument is holding water like a bottomless glass.

I would also add that if there was a shortage, I would not expect to see dealers be able to sell anyone a FOB.

I called Toyota brand engagement and it was a complete waste of time, much like talking to the dealer. When I bought the truck the dealer stated 6 weeks at the most, now they say 8-10 months at the most.....my first Toyota ever; if this is how they handle the 2nd fob issue, I don't have any hope they'll do any better with other issues I experience.

Probably time to trade it in then........

Still BS they can't seem to get two fobs out, but at least they dont' do like the other big 3 and not install options.

At least the truck is complete leaving the factory short of the 2nd key fob and if thats a deal breaker then I suggest you get rid of the truck (or you can buy a fob from the dealer if its that worrisome which is probably cheaper than a trade-in loss). I had to wait about 6 or 8 months if I remember correctly to get my second fob, it was dumb but its over.

Remember folks the way you know a dealer is lying is their mouth is moving and words are coming out.

I had mine into the dealer last week for an oil change and transmission recall. They gave me the second fob when I picked up the truck. Purchased new in December '23.

Were you informed in advance that the 2nd fob was going to be there for you to pick up?

Does Toyota ship the key directly to the owner or just sends a notification?

I got a notification, in my app and by mail, when it was available for my vin range. Dealership doesn’t matter. They take a blank key fob and program it to your truck….just like if you bought one from the parts counter.

You have to go to a dealer to get your 2nd fob.

    Can't use that excuse forever.

I give Toyo credit for creativity. When I was looking in 22 every other brand was chip delete trucks. Having all the features was better than a 2nd key.

But as we enter last half of 24 and COVID chip supply issues are a memory more appears Toyo is dragging feet or being cheap.

Just the usual proactive to get you to buy their product. After the check clears go into turtle mode

Here's something you might try. It worked for me. After waiting a month and planning a long trip. I told the salesman I bought the truck from that I had ordered a OEM fob from their parts department which came in approx. 5 days and I would eat the cost because as I didn't want to be 1000 miles from home and have something happen to the only fob I had and be up shit creek without a paddle. On his own he discussed it with the parts guy and the service manager repeating what i had told him. They gave me the fob at no cost and said they would get some kind of credit for the one that would eventually come for my truck. If you try this, Please be nice about it. It usually works to your advantage.

Believe me nkawal i understand your frustration. One could argue that a company that can afford to build a 60 to 80 thousand dollar vehicle with all the electronics but then can't seem to supply a second key fob in a timely fashion is ludicrous. Not a good look for Toyota and immediately begs the question of what else are you going to fall short on. This is not how your retain or cultivate customers.

In the same respect I always fall back on "Don't count on anybody but yourself" . If someone helps you out be appreciative and make the most of it but in the end don't count on someone coming to save you. Take the hand you've been dealt and make the most of it.

I decided to eat the cost of the second fob and have it in a few days as I was going to be very far from home and didn't want the stress of dealing with no back up should the something happen to my only fob. The conversation I had with the Salesman and and other staff at the dealership was just simple conversation, not "what are you going to do about this problem". The fact that they took it upon themselves to go the extra mile on my behalf was not asked for but greatly appreciated on my part and I made sure they knew it.

Picked up my Platinum on 12/08/2023. Production day 11/05/2023. The second fob arrived on 07/01/2024 the same day i received Toyota Buyback acknowledge letter.
Now i can return it to them with two fobs  Or should i keep the second fob for 7 months before returning it as they deed?

I purchased my 2024 back in September of 2023 and it took 7 months to get my second key FOB. You basically will not be given a new one until you get the paper mail notice from Toyota that it's now available. I don't know if the wait time is any better now, maybe if your truck had been sitting on the lot for several months.

My wait was right around 7 months. Purchased in April '23 and picked up second fob towards the end of September.
