A few times a week when I start my truck the digital mirror doesn’t come on and it shows a camera with a line through it. If I toggle the day night switch on the mirror it comes right back on. Anyone else have this issue and know of a fix? The dealer just had it and said it was due to low voltage in the battery and replaced the battery. The problem is still there.

That's not a "camera" showing in your mirror, that's a dead battery.

That's the worst indicator for something that is operating correctly that I've ever seen

I’ve had my truck going on two weeks and this has happened to me multiple times. I usually open the options and tap on and off.

Did you find a solution by chance? The manual says possible malfunction visit Toyota, I’m making an appoint to get it checked out. I’ve only got 154 miles on my truck and shouldn’t be having issues this early.

I just got back from Toyota and the technician was unable to replicate the issue. I even showed him the picture provided. The service advisor asked me to record a video the next time it happens. I argued that it wouldn’t be much different than the picture but ok.

I washed my truck yesterday and made sure to clean the rear cameras (under the shark fin) were clean. I’m hoping it doesn’t happen again but if it does, I told the service advisor that the truck is way too new and too expensive to have these issues. He agreed. We’ll see I guess ‍.

Did anyone get this issue? I’m seeing the same error message and my camera won’t turn on.

Toyota never did anything for me. This issue kinda just stopped on its own. It happened again once but it resolved itself.

I just picked up my Capstone last week and I have the same issue. I know the battery was dead when i bought it, it had been sitting on the showroom floor for a few months, so I assume that is the root cause of the issue ? I'll be calling the service department Monday morning to see what they think.

I haven't experienced a "dead" digital rearview mirror, but I often get a sporadic video feed. The mirror's display will flash on and off and then an icon will flash on the screen momentarily directing me to push a button underneath the mirror. I don't know what the heck is happening.

The only thing that seems to resolve it is turning off the truck and restarting. I say this because oftentimes the mirror malfunctions on the way out, but not on the way home after a stop where the truck is shutdown.

That is what most people with this issue report. In my case the camera was defective from the factory, so mine was more of a one off.

Well I did some more "investigation" today. My truck is garaged and the mirror worked fine on a 25 minute drive to run an errand.

Truck sat in the parking lot for maybe 20 minutes in 90 degree weather.

On the way back home it started the flashing video BS. I don't know why, but I reached up on the top of the mirror to "feel around." That's when I found out the mirror casing was extremely hot to the touch.

Nothing else in the interior of the truck was as hot as the mirror casing. It was hot due to something going on inside the digital mirror itself. The temperature was easily 120 degrees or more.

I'm suspicious that there's some type of electrical malfunction happening here. I guess a trip to the dealer is in the future for me.

    Yep
As I’m reading this, the front camera for lane system overheats, the rear may as well do the same. Front camera reports in however
