I think it's great. No way in hell would I be out during swamp ass time. :rofl:If we move to the south, I can imagine we will learn that all too well.

minimal; it was less than 3 boxes of pergo and some shoe molding. Maybe 75 lbs……The angles of some of the corners especially around the bathroom door were impossible to match. Overall though very happy with how it turned out.

    Thanks Guys.
You can see that all of the clapboard wasn't up so we took advantage of it,I had mounted 6 Milwaukee magic markers on string leashes so our friends and family signed our Home with blessings.
The next day I went out and printed out that B&W of us we both signed it put the Pic in a zip lock bag and chased it behind the clapboard and it will be there until the next people who re do the front and we will be loooong gone by then.

My wife bought a Tiffany style lamp at one of the local antique stores in December. It was pretty messed up - I ended up finally getting around to rewiring it, adding new socket things, and lowering the lamp shade (for some reason you could see the bulbs). The shade had a crack in it so I'll get around to replacing that someday.

Anyways, she's not bugging me to fix it anymore. :D

Time capsules are the coolest thing... I've planted many during my career. I've found a few in my current home (1953), newspapers, a few writings, and a couple beer cans. One of the beer cans was a shim for the kitchen drain:rofl:, you know... the real metal ones.
Your hidden gem will certainly bring someone smiles in the future.

Yeah that's the plan man.To bring some smiles to someone in the future to see that our house was a good home with plenty of good will and blessings for us on that special day for us.
Now we are going to enjoy our time and patiently wait for the grand kids to start filtering in and then the fun will really start, long weekends holidays and summer vacations with 3 generations running around with smiles and a life time of warm memories.

    Life is good!

Question for everyone, has anyone had experience using a metal shipping container to store things in? I am wondering how secure they are against rodents and the outdoor elements.

I was looking to buy one or two of them and put on my property while building. We found a place to rent during the build but no place for storage. I am thinking the shipping container would do the job and afterwards I will have something else to place with. I am concerned if they are on the ground and 13” of snow falls, will the moisture get inside? This will be our bedroom furniture and the whole house I would like to store.

    TIA

In their basic form, they are not water tight and do not prevent rodents from getting in. That said, I have seen people actually make tiny houses and workshops from them by framing and sealing on the inside, running conduit, and even putting splits for heating and a/c into them. You CAN get them relatively water tight and rodent free by doing that but it would take quite a bit or work and expense.

Using them for a tiny house afterwards or storage is what I wanted but that answers my questions, not weatherproof

There has to be some kind of gasket that's used because (during my property searching) I've seen a lot of them in use in the upper peninsula on remote properties... where 120 to 180in of snow is a regular occurrence. Pretty sure some of them are keeping stuff dry and rodent free?

Have one in front of me at the moment. Here is an example,, hard rubber seal, rodent proof and prob pretty water proof barring submersion.

We use them in the military all the time. I've never seen rodents get in. As for water, I've seen a couple roofs leak but that was due to holes and or rust. Maybe put a sealant of some type on it if you decide to get them.

    One of my faves!

There's a market in Cardiff, CA about 20 minutes up the coast near a spot where I surf a lot that sells a Burgundy Pepper infused tri tip that's pretty famous... It's called "Cardiff Crack".

It's pretty ridiculous how tender it is. You can order it and they'll ship it to ya' in dry ice if you ever wanna try it.

    This has been a ssssslow process ;

Purchasing flooring in bulk to get the best price backfires when your "Bride" decides she wants it NOW...:angrygirl:

I found no problem having double stacked boxes in the dining area :notsure::notsure:, was using it as an extension of my desk

Stephen & I started tearing up the old, original fake tile and found a few spots that required "Yankee engineering".....new subflooring along with

new double plating floor Joist :spending::spending:..

OF course my Beautiful Bride; the Artist- now insist on painting any and all surfaces :rolleyes:.... including F@$$ing popcorn ceilings :help:

I'm retired so she says I have Time o_Oo_O...

Too hot here. Weather guage on the front porch is reporting 100, in the shade. Been thinking about this so I gave it a shot.

nothing automated just a mister hose spraying into the compressor. I don't have amp reader or anything to see if it's actually doing a job, yesterday it wasn't till middle of the night before the AC actually satisfied the thermostat. Wondering if this will help.
