When they decriminalized marijuana here, the way they handled it was weird. People got pardons for old possession convictions. Those old convictions hadn't shown up on their records but the pardons did so the pardons were actually preventing them from entering the US.

But this is what bothers me. You could smoke last week on a weekend and it will still be in your system. In turn you have a jamo and coffee for breakfast and pass the breathalyzer after lunch. You could've driven with that whiskey still in your veins and they would be none the wiser. And you could never have driven high but they make the assumption that if it's in your urine sample that you're high all the time. It's not a same/same analysis. I know alcoholics and stoners alike. I'd rather hang with the stoners than the drunks.

 

This is why we can't buy nice things.

Unfortunately no. There is only loose anecdotal evidence (at best) to show any benefit at all from the supplements and viscous injections (synvisc, orthovisc, etc). You may find some relief from taking all of that and it certainly isn’t going to hurt, but I am afraid that over the course of my two and half decades in this field, very little in the way of supplementation helps when it is this far progressed.

 

there is something called a MACI procedure that essentially is the same thing…the stem cell transplants are relatively easy to do and have some benefit but as you said most insurance companies do not cover……and they are VERY expensive. Even then, it typically only works on certain specific injury types. Many have used it in the case of articular cartilage damage but really only does well when caught very early and there is a heavy dose of modified activity.

 

The operators at work were talking about this when they first decriminalized weed. They figured the company would need some sort of test that could show if someone was actually high at the time of the test, vs just having residual THC or whatever it is in their body.

Not exactly. If you have 0 alcohol you're sober, no alcohol. You might be hungover, but not drunk
I had some training on various substances, pot is 30 days for a pee test, 9 months for a hair sample. Cocaine I think is a week. Herion is ridiculously short, you could get high on Saturday and pass a test on Monday.

 

Honestly, the short answer is if you smoke and want to continue to smoke you need to have a job that doesn't test. The system for testing isn't accurate to usage at the time of the test like a breathalyzer is.

 

I work for a federal government contractor. Testing is mandatory in the case of injury or MVA. If pot shows up it doesn’t matter what state you live in.
If we have a good employee test positive, they'll get 30 days off and have to pass a test negative to return to work. If it's a shitbird, gone with no recourse.

 

Yep, federal law trumps state laws. That's the gray area where they aren't necessarily prosecuting those that use, but they are weeding users out.
