Unfortunately, not. It is all just starting now.

    Can you elaborate?
I was really hoping this had been isolated, root cause found and corrected.
Can not find any official statements from Toyota addressing this though.
I would love to pull the trigger on a 2024, but just cannot until I see some kind of statement.
What do you mean by "it's all just starting now."

I also did my homework and bought a '24 Tundra hybrid. I had a '16 CM 5.7L 4x4 and it was a rough ride (very truckie truck). This '24 is very smooth and quiet. I also paid 1000$ extra for 8 years/75k miles Toyota platinum warranty so I feel "just a little better" about this engine recall.

Toyota says in its recall that the remedy is not currently available. "Starting now" - no remedy available, Toyota is working on the cheapest way to please NHTSA, which will most likely leave the customers partially screwed, who may vote to change the loyalty to the brand in the future.

There will be a lot of early Gen3 trucks that nobody wants. Some/most of them may be fine, but who would want to take a risk? Getting a V8 Tundra with neglected and busted engine is annoyance, but not a big deal since you need to cash out only $8k for a good used 3UR. Getting a used V35A, with the same cancer? Hmm... Paying $40k for V35A rebuild with new short block? Hmmmm....

These new Tundras will drive until they break and then to be sent under the press.

Put me in that list. If I don't see some movement soon that looks like a buy back or very rapid full engine replacements + warranty for all trucks...I too will contribute to the lowering of resale value by dumping the truck on a Ford, GM, or Ram lot.

Its a shame...I actually liked this truck. Now I just worry after finding the metal in my oil.

While that is valid, it hinges on the common belief shared online that a majority of third generation trucks experience issues. This may or may not be completely precise. If an increasing number of 3rd gen reach high mileage without major problems (100k-150k+), it could alter the perception of their overall reliability. $0.02.

100k before major problem is quite a low-ball for Tundra. Used to be 400-500k miles if you are willing to drive one vehicle that long. And it's not the end, the engine at 500k is still strong. The perception of Toyota Tundra was it is a one million mile truck. That's why so much disappointment.

Reality is that no brand's trucks eclipse 10% of those manufactured hitting 200k miles Lots of reasons including wrecks, wrinkly owners that drive 3k a year, or finally hitting a repair cost that makes junking it the better option

The 300k to 500k vehicles are rarer than most people assume
